Kathie Lee and Hoda Bring 'Wine Rack,' Boozy Smooches to 'The Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jul 11th 2011 2:35PM
Kathie Lee Gifford and Jay Leno share some 'Whipped Lightning' on 'The Tonight Show'Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb visited Jay Leno on 'The Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35 on NBC) Friday to demonstrate some helpful, boozy new products. The segment featured 'The Wine Rack,' a very special whipped cream, and like Kathie Lee's last appearance on 'Late Night Jimmy Fallon,' ended with her smooching the host.

The first product the gals demoed was 'The Wine Rack,' which -- have you guessed it yet? -- is a bra you can fill with wine and sip on through a tube. Gifford suggested a myriad of situations it might prove useful, including parent-teacher conferences and your kid's soccer game. Kotb also demonstrated, not too successfully, a bra that pops off when you clap with a similarly imaginative name, 'The Clap Off.'

Bernie the Gorilla Joins Kevin James to Promote 'Zookeeper' on 'Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 8th 2011 4:30AM
Kevin James & Bernie the Gorilla, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'When Kevin James showed up on 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) to promote his new movie 'Zookeeper,' he wasn't alone. He was joined on the couch by Bernie the Gorilla from the movie, voiced again by Nick Nolte.

The two bickered throughout the bit, with Bernie saying James insisted on being called "Mr. James" on the set, and even had a guy whose only job was to bring him smoothies all day.

James retorted by accusing the gorilla of not being able to handle the fact that James gave him his big break in movies. It was a lot of this kind of silliness, but we were still impressed with the gorilla itself. The mouth animation was respectable enough, and the suit itself was almost perfect.

Jay Leno Wears a Scarlet Ibis As a Hat on 'The Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jul 7th 2011 4:06AM
Julie Scardina, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'Things always seem to get a little out of hand whenever animals are brought onto late night talk shows. That's the main reason these segments are so entertaining. And we were not let down when Julie Scardina brought along her animal friends to 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC).

Winning the award for Most Adorable, an eight-week old caracol cat was not a big fan of Leno. That said, if a proportionately huge Jay Leno face was opening and closing its mouth that close to us, we might hiss and run, too. Cat probably thought it was gonna get eaten.

A scarlet ibis was far more comfortable, immediately perching on top of Leno's head. When one jumped up and landed on Scardina's head as well, Leno said, "Now we can talk."

One Potty-Training 'Accident' Cost Marc Anthony $6,000 to Clean Up (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 22nd 2011 4:56AM
Marc Anthony, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'Potty training is a crazy and stressful time for any parent. Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez are dealing with two at the same time in that stage. On 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC), Anthony talked about how their kids quickly outsmarted the reward system.

The children were given a lollipop for every time they successfully went potty, but after three days the lollipops were all gone.

"You should probably get them checked out if they're using the potty that much," he said.

100-Year Old Dorothy Custer Upstages Larry the Cable Guy on 'Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jun 21st 2011 4:29AM
Dorothy Custer, 'The Tonight Show with Jay Leno'There's a reason why you usually see the 100-year old guests on late night talk shows like 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) come out last. They've reached a point in their lives where they simply don't hold back anything, meaning they're usually fantastically entertaining guests.

Jay Leno had Dorothy Custer on, who was three weeks past her 100th birthday. She related a story about her trip to Universal Studios with the timing of a well-seasoned comedian.

"I had a skirt on and the wind was a-just blowing it like that, and I was hanging onto my hat." she explained. When a kid told her to pull down her dress instead of holding her hat, she retorted, "I don't care. What they see down there is 100 years old. This is a brand new hat."

Blake Lively Tells Jay Leno About Swimming With Great White Sharks (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 16th 2011 6:25AM
Blake Lively and Jay LenoBlake Lively stopped by 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) to promote her new movie, 'The Green Lantern,' and she revealed an unexpectedly adventurous side to her personality.

On vacation, someone suggested she give swimming with sharks a go. Lively's initial reaction? "I'm terrified of sharks. Sounds like a horrible idea. Let's do it! ... So, I went cage-diving with Great White Sharks!"

From what Lively said, it's a pretty gruesome experience. The guides attract sharks to the cage by throwing blood and fish guts into the water. The divers jump in and start to swim in the cage amidst all that gore. And then lots of sharks turn up and start biting at the cage.

"It's like everything you never wanted to happen, is happening." Happily for Lively, though, she can see the positive side, and thinks that although the experience was terrifying at first, it's also kind of beautiful.

Kim Kardashian Tells Jay Leno How Kris Humphries Proposed to Her (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 15th 2011 7:13AM
Kim Kardashian and Jay LenoKim Kardashian recently got engaged to her beau, basketball player Kris Humphries, and she took time off from wedding planning to visit 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC).

Host Jay Leno was interested to find out how long it took for Kim to know that Kris was "the one," and seemed taken aback when she said she hadn't known immediately. But, it only took until "month two" of the whirlwind romance for her to be sure.

Then Kim spilled the beans of the exact details of Kris's oh-so-perfect, ultra-romantic proposal. (Guys might like to take notes here, as many prospective Bridezillas are sure to be wanting their boyfriends to "do a Humphries" for their own marriage proposals.)

Anyway, at the end of a "totally random day" Kim arrived home to what seemed to be an empty house. However, when she opened her bedroom door she found Kris waiting for her on bended knee, candles everywhere, and he'd spelled out "Will You Marry Me?" in red rose petals on her big white rug. Awww. How cute is that?!

Adam Levine Sees Embarrassing Footage of His First Public Performance (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Jun 14th 2011 7:05AM
Adam LevineOn 'The Voice' Adam Levine's job is to sit in judgment on many young aspiring singers, trampling on some dreams, and making others come true. When he was younger, TV talent shows were thin on the ground, so how did the Maroon 5 frontman get his start in the business?

Luckily for us, 'The Tonight Show' (Weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) host Jay Leno unearthed footage of Levine's first public performance and we got to watch it along with Levine. Who didn't seem that happy to see it.

Levine said that he was a really shy kid and only came out of his shell once he started performing at a local place called 'Closet Stars.' This, said Levine, was a place where would-be rock stars were dressed up in in "all kinds of cool stuff like sunglasses" before coming out onstage to lip-synch the big hits of the day.

And that's when Leno unleashed the footage. As Levine said "Are you kidding?" we got to see his much younger self working through that shyness barrier by lip-synching and dancing to Bobby Brown's 1988 mega-hit, 'Don't Be Cruel.'

Late Night Wars on '30 Rock' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Apr 23rd 2010 4:05AM
Late Night Wars on '30 Rock'Tina Fey is the star and producer of '30 Rock' (Thu., 9:30PM ET on NBC). She's also a friend of Conan O'Brien. But that probably had nothing to do with the current episode of the show. Although the latest episode did oddly parody the late night wars between O'Brien and his rival Jay Leno. Maybe it's just all a coincidence?

George Lopez Should Be "Loco" For Coco

by Danny Gallagher, posted Apr 15th 2010 10:00AM
George LopezTBS has offered Conan O'Brien a deal that's so sweet, you could pour it over pancakes.

No one, however, is closer to achieving a full-on joygasm than 'Lopez Tonight' host George Lopez. He should. He's going to have an awesome lead-in audience, worldwide attention, and a better chance of beating the late night bigwigs than he could ever hope for if he was on his own.

So why should he not go "muy loco" or any other ethnically charged verb for sharing a late night block with "Coco"?

While everyone thought Conan would simply jump to Fox because it was the last remaining network without a strong late night slot, Coco and company were being courted by all sorts of networks and media outlets, including ... Microsoft???

That's right, the technology giant had been talking to Conan about a deal that would have brought his nightly talk show to their XBox Live service.

Lisa Lampanelli on 'Tonight Show'"Queen of Mean" comedienne Lisa Lampanelli is engaged, she announced on the 'Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC). But that wasn't all her news.

Lampanelli thinks she knows the real reason Kevin Eubanks is leaving the show. She even capped off her theory by saying, "The last time I saw a black man that sad, his wife had hit him with his own golf club."

Sitting in the front row of the studio audience was her fiance -- "Jimmy Big Balls" -- whom Jay Leno compared to cast members of 'The Sopranos.' From there, she went on to discuss the difficulties of planning a wedding amid the couple's boisterous Italian relatives.
