Sarah Michelle Gellar Doubles Your Pleasure: When Actresses Tackle Dual Roles
by Stephanie Earp, posted Aug 30th 2011 2:00PM
After 8 years away from TV, Sarah Michelle Gellar returns this fall in 'Ringer,' one of the more talked-about pilots of the season. Never one to back away from a challenge, our girl comes back not as one character, but two -- identical twins Bridget and Siobhan. As SMG herself pointed out at Comic-Con, she's doing this for the love of the game, not the paycheck (only soap stars get paid extra when they take on an evil twin/clone/long lost cousin side project). In honor of her noble dedication to her craft, here's a few other actresses who've gotten multiple listings in a TV credit. The CW Fall Premiere Dates: When Will 'The Vampire Diaries' Return?

Thursday-Night Shows Hit With Low Ratings
by Brad Trechak, posted Apr 23rd 2010 3:00PM
This is either a hiccup or a sign of things to come: Ratings for most of the shows that aired last night were down, according to the Live Feed.
The ratings winner was CBS, who aired 'Survivor,' 'CSI' (which tied its all-time series low, with 13.3 million viewers and a 2.8 rating in the 18-49 demo) and 'The Mentalist.'
Meanwhile, things didn't turn out well on the NBC front: 'Community' hit a series low, with a measly 3.9 million viewers,' while 'The Office' (6.4 million) and a double-feature of '30 Rock' (4.2 million, 5.2 million) hit season lows.
Also hitting a season low: ABC's 'Private Practice,' with just 7.4 million viewers.

'The Vampire Diaries' - 'There Goes the Neighborhood' Recap
by Jane Boursaw, posted Apr 2nd 2010 5:52AM
(S01E16) "I have 400 years on you, little boy. I'll rip you from limb to limb, and you know it." - Pearl to DamonJust another average day on 'The Vampire Diaries' -- Matt and Caroline on a double date with Elena and Stefan. Or as Stefan put it, "a nice evening out with friends ... as in ... fun."
Let's face it. There's not going to be any fun for anyone on this show, especially with those 25 restless vampires in the farmhouse -- or as I like to call it, the vamp compound -- outside of town.
There's a vampire war brewing, and nothing anyone says or does is going to stop it. And thank goodness for that, because it promises to be really entertaining for us.

David Anders Signs for 'Vampire Diaries'
by Mike Moody, posted Feb 24th 2010 12:01PM
Don't feel sorry for David Anders. I know it seems like he's constantly getting killed off or written out of high-profile shows, but the guy always seems to land on his feet with another juicy new role on a popular series. Just a few days after his most recent TV baddie bit the dust, TV Guide has confirmed that Anders is joining the cast of the CW hit 'The Vampire Diaries'.
Anders has been tapped to play Jonathan Gilbert, Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Jeremy's (Steven R. McQueen) uncle. But don't expect to see him acting like role a model for Mystic Fall's troubled teens. A source tells EW's Michael Ausiello that Uncle Jonathan is coming to town to "cause some trouble."
Review: 'The Vampire Diaries' - 'Children of the Damned'
by Jane Boursaw, posted Feb 5th 2010 7:15AM

(S01E13) "You know, I really like this whole menage a trois threesome thing. It's got a bit of a kink to it." - Damon to Stefan and Elena
Interesting episode of 'The Vampire Diaries,' with the flashbacks showing the relationship of the Gilberts and Salvatores back when women wore hoops and guys wore watch fobs. What's really fun is seeing Nina Dobrev play the wicked vampire chick from back in the day. Such a departure from her present day Elena, who's all about the common sense.
Review: The Vampire Diaries - Bloodlines
by Jane Boursaw, posted Jan 22nd 2010 5:35PM

(S01E11) Yay! The Vampire Diaries is back, and they covered a lot of stuff in this episode. More questions, a few answers, new relationships, more sinister stuff. We picked up right where we left off in the previous episode, with Elena driving tearfully away from Stefan after seeing Katherine's picture, getting into a car crash and seeing an unknown person approaching.
At first, I thought it was Damon, but he arrived a second later to pull her out of the car. There's something satisfying about seeing Damon speeding down the road in a muscle car with Elena in the passenger seat. She doesn't really fit into the whole damsel-in-distress thing. I mean, she's her own person, but yet you can feel that there's something between her and Damon.
'Glee' Renewed for Second Season; Here's a Wish List for 5 More
by Adam Keleman, posted Jan 11th 2010 6:11PM
'Glee' is on a roll, and we're not just talking about the wheelchair-bound, soul-singing character Artie. Monday morning Fox announced at the Television Critics Association confab that the sweetly buoyant TV phenomenon 'Glee' will return to Fox's 2010 fall line-up for an encore season. The adequately rated program about high school misfits who sing and dance their hearts out has struck a chord with the American public looking for something truly original in a TV landscape mostly filled with run-of-the-mill procedural and medical shows.
TV's Top Shirtless Guy Moments of 2009
by Jane Boursaw, posted Dec 24th 2009 8:00AM
This year offered plenty of hot and steamy TV moments, but some of the best featured hunky, half-naked guys. It was like an instant party for all of us female viewers out here, whether you're into sexy vampires, rough-gem bikers, or scrappy high school football players. But rather than savor these moments all by ourselves, we've put together a round-up to share them with the world. Although they're numbered from one to 10, we think all of these guys are equally sexy. See if you agree with our choices.
Mia Kirshner Joins 'Vampire Diaries'
by Rebecca Paiement, posted Dec 22nd 2009 12:00PM
Here's one for the CW's Christmas stocking: Mia Kirshner has just signed up for a recurring role on 'The Vampire Diaries.' The Ausiello Files confirms that the 'L Word' siren will play Isobel, wife of Matt Davis' history teacher, Alaric. Her character will be charming -- but with some serious bite, of course.
Kirshner is known primarily for her portrayal of Jenny Schecter on the Showtime drama 'The L Word,' a job she held from 2005-2009. She's also put in three solid appearances on '24', and has had significant roles in 'Not Another Teen Movie' and 'The Black Dahlia.'
Another werewolf show for Fox?
by Mike Moody, posted Dec 4th 2009 10:00AM
It's hard to disparage Fox for wanting to get into the werewolf business after the huge – and soul crushing – financial success of the lycanthrope-heavy New Moon. But the network that canceled Dollhouse, Firefly and, amusingly, Werewolf might be stretching America's love affair with fanged furries to its breaking point. Last year, we reported that Fox was eyeing Bitches, about a pack of urban shewolves. Now comes news that it's developing a second werewolf show called Howl, from Dreamworks TV. Variety says that Howl is a family drama about warring werewolf clans in a small Alaska town.
It sounds like Fox is looking to grab some of that Team Jacob money with its own hairy version of The Vampire Diaries.
Characters Who Need Therapy From 'In Treatment''s Dr. Paul Weston
by Jason Hughes, posted Nov 27th 2009 6:00AM
We're thrilled that HBO has renewed 'In Treatment' for a third season. In two seasons, it has proven to be one of the most compelling experiments in dramatic television. A lot of that has to do with the stellar -- and Emmy-nominated -- work by Gabriel Byrne, who plays psychotherapist Dr. Paul Weston. The show was based closely on the Isreali series 'Be Tipul.' That program only lasted for two seasons, which means that season 3 of 'In Treatment' will be its first foray into wholly new territory. To this point, much of the dialogue, relationships and all of the patients were based on their Isreali counterparts, with minor variations. Now, the writers will be taxed with creating everything from scratch.
With that in mind, we decided to help out by scouring through the channels to find 10 television characters who desperately need treatment from Dr. Weston.
8 Shows that Are Creepy in a Good Way
by Jane Boursaw, posted Nov 20th 2009 4:36PM

Some shows are creepy just because, well, they're icky to think about. Like 'The Girls Next Door' (twins sleeping with the same old guy!) or 'Hoarders' (the ultimate pack-rats!). Then there are shows that are frightening, but in a good way. Read on for eight such shows that make you look under the bed at night, avoid cemeteries, and ponder alternate universes.
