Liz Lemon and Michael Scott on a 'Date Night'? Yes, Please

by Gabrielle Dunn, posted Apr 9th 2010 2:45PM
Date Night'30 Rock's' cat-lady-in-training Liz Lemon and 'The Office's' outrageously awkward Michael Scott seem like the perfect crossover comedy couple.

In fact, they would make such a hilarious pair, we wish Lemon had been Scott's blind date on the most recent episode of 'The Office,' if only so we could have seen a harried Liz contend with Scott's alter-ego, 'Date Mike.'

The casting directors for the movie 'Date Night' must have thought so too when they cast Lemon's Tina Fey and Scott's Steve Carell as a married couple, in a move that overjoyed every die-hard comedy nerd.

Tina Fey and Steve Carell shared worst date horror stories while appearing on 'The Rachael Ray Show' (weekdays, syndicated) to promote heir new comedy 'Date Night,' a film which depicts a married couple on a date that goes horribly awry.

According to Fey, her all-time worst date involved a man who insulted her weight. "I had one guy on a date tell me, 'Oh, you'd be really pretty if you lost weight,'" Fey said.

Tina Fey's Pre-Schooler Wants to Be a 'Paid Dancer' (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Apr 7th 2010 12:30PM
On 'Live With Regis and Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated), Tina Fey said that her four-year-old daughter wants to pursue a career in the entertainment industry just like her mommy. However, young Alice doesn't want to write or act like Fey. Instead, she wants to "get paid to dance at parties." Uh oh.

Fey told Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa that Alice revealed her future profession during a session of pretend play, causing Fey a bit of concern. "Where does that come from?" asked Fey, making a face and rolling her eyes.

Five Great 'SNL' Hosts That Will Never Happen

by Danny Gallagher, posted Apr 6th 2010 6:29PM
'SNL' logoA host can make or break an entire episode of 'Saturday Night Live.' In fact, the mere presence of some celebrities like Chevy Chase, Milton Berle and Frank Zappa have turned their slice of Saturday late night into the lowest moments of "Must-Miss TV."

However, things are looking good this season. A preliminary list of hosts includes Oscar nominated actress Gabourey Sidibe, former 'SNL'er and '30 Rock' star Tina Fey and 'Golden Girl' actress and new found Internet champion Betty White.

However, some pop culture icons, nay legends, will never get to prove their celebrity power by hosting this comedy powerhouse simply because they never got an invitation, the show wasn't around in their time or they physically couldn't go to the studio. These hosts would have made for the best shows if the laws of time and space went on a week-long coffee break.

Tracy Morgan Gets Choked Up Talking About Tina Fey (VIDEO)

by Chris Harnick, posted Apr 6th 2010 5:38PM
Tracy MorganTracy Morgan stopped by 'Oprah Winfrey' (weekdays, syndicated) and discussed Tina Fey's role in shaping his career. When Oprah Winfrey asked the funnyman how he'd describe Fey's influence, Morgan appeared to get choked up.

"She's my friend, Tina's my friend," Morgan said. "I love her ... she understood I knew who I was ... she understood I was making choices."

Morgan said Fey not only wrote him parts, but encouraged him to develop his persona. But, just how did Fey come to understand Morgan? Well, according to him, it's because she partied with him.

Tina Fey Grills Oprah Winfrey on Relationship With Jamie Foxx (VIDEO)

by Chris Harnick, posted Apr 6th 2010 5:25PM
Oprah WinfreyTina Fey got to turn the tables on Oprah Winfrey and pressed the talk show queen about her relationship with Jamie Foxx.

"What is going on with you and Jamie Foxx?" Fey asked Winfrey on 'Oprah Winfrey' (weekdays, syndicated). "Because I feel like he might be in love with you ... there's an energy, he's putting something out."

Winfrey denied anything romantic, claiming the two were just friends, but Fey seemed skeptical. Winfrey sounded impressed with Fey's questioning -- and flirty footage. "That's good," Winfrey said with surprise. "That's a real question."

Fey and Carell Prove That The Gap Between TV and Movie Stardom is Disappearing

by Joel Keller, posted Apr 5th 2010 4:02PM
Steve Carell and Tina Fey in 'Date Night'Let me start this post off by getting this out of the way right now: I have no idea whether 'Date Night,' the new big-screen comedy from Tina Fey and Steve Carell coming out on Friday, is any good, or whether it'll make any money. From what I can see from the ads, it isn't looking promising, but good movies have been victimized by bad ads for as long as TV and movies have co-existed.

What has been the most remarkable about the promotion and marketing of this movie, though, has been this: Nothing, from the movie ads to the breathless previews on entertainment channels, to any of the print stories, are making a big deal that this movie is headlined two (gulp) television stars. And it's the career paths of both Fey and Carell that make this so refreshing.

Late Show with David LettermanIs David Letterman obsessed with Tracy Morgan? Last week, he grilled Tina Fey on her '30 Rock' costar, the result was this gem of a clip. Last night he turned his questions on Luke Wilson on 'Late Show With David Letterman' (11:35PM ET on CBS).

"He's a real force of nature," Wilson said. The duo were riding around in a picture car, waiting to shoot a scene and Morgan was getting numbers from girls on the street.

"At one point I said, 'Tracy, I think they're ready to shoot this' ... and he said, 'Lou,' and I said, 'It's Luke.' He said 'Lou ... I'm a pervert,'" Wilson said.

by Scott Harris, posted Mar 31st 2010 10:15AM
Matt DamonAs one of Hollywood's leading men, Matt Damon has become the definition of an international jet setter, traveling everywhere from France, to Tokyo to South Africa in the course of his work. Now he's about to land at his most prestigious destination yet: 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

Yes, that's right: According to Entertainment Weekly, Damon will be appearing on NBC's flagship comedy, '30 Rock.' Though details are still sketchy, it seems he will be appearing at the end of the season and, given his busy filming schedule, it's likely his role will be one and done rather than an ongoing part.

It was all slime and smiles at Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice Awards 2010, with plenty of celebrities getting the green goo treatment, including host Kevin James. Even Tina Fey and Steve Carell, co-stars in the upcoming 'Date Night,' came out for the very purpose of getting super-slimed.

Tina Fey Does Tracy Morgan Impression on 'Letterman' (VIDEO)

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 25th 2010 4:11AM
Late Show With David Letterman, Tina Fey does Tracy MorganWe're with Tina Fey and David Letterman on this one. We've talked to Tracy Morgan before, and he does have his own brand of language going. But it just makes us love him more -- even if we have no idea what he's talking about.

It also gives Fey the perfect platform to do her impersonation of her '30 Rock' co-star, which she did with gusto on 'Late Show With David Letterman' (11:35PM ET on CBS). If you close your eyes, you could swear it's Morgan.

30 Rock, Liz LemonIf you ever want to trick someone into going to the dentist, just cop a Jamaican accent and start talking the funky talk like Liz Lemon on '30 Rock' (Thu., 9:30PM ET on NBC).

Actually, if we ever got a phone call like that, we'd hang up and call the cops. Then again, maybe that's how things roll in New York City, and we're just not hip enough to know it.

Betty White's 'SNL' Hosting Gig Set For May 8

by Joel Keller, posted Mar 11th 2010 10:32AM
Betty WhiteThis whole "Betty White as 'SNL' host" movement has been fascinating to watch. Think about it: the users of a decidedly 21st century technology, Facebook, got together in support of a star who started working before the vast majority of the site's users were even born. No one on FB is looking to have Tony Curtis be a guest panelist on 'The Marriage Ref,' or want Dick Cavett to be the new host of 'The Tonight Show,' for instance.

Most people were overjoyed to hear that the online movement to get her on the show was a success; now, according to WNBC and People magazine, White's 'Saturday Night Live' hosting gig has an air date: May 8. She'll be part of a Mother's Day-themed episode which will feature former cast members who are also moms, including Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, and Molly Shannon. Rachel Dratch will also be there; she's not a mom but tended to play one in a lot of her sketches when she was a cast member.

The Marriage Ref, Tina Fey, Eva LongoriaIs flossing in bed – or anywhere other than the bathroom – gross? Yes! And the panel on 'The Marriage Ref' (Thu., 10PM ET on NBC) agrees with us!

We're glad to know that Jerry Seinfeld, Tina Fey and Eva Longoria Parker all agree that not only is flossing in bed just plain wrong, the whole segment was downright disgusting.

Marriage partners, take note -- never, ever floss in bed! Case closed, let's move on.
