Executives who reportedly attended the meeting included 'Today' executive producer Jim Bell, NBC News President Steve Capus and senior vice president for marketing and communications Lauren Kapp.

The Duggars Are Expecting Baby Number 20 (VIDEO)

by Catherine Lawson, posted Nov 8th 2011 9:11AM
DuggarsNot even the threat of pre-eclampsia or premature birth can slow down Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar in their quest to expand their already huge family: They announced this morning on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC) that they are expecting their 20th child together.

Telling Ann Curry that she's three and a half months pregnant, 45 year-old Michelle said "We're due in April and we're just thrilled!" Ever the joker, Jim Bob quipped "We don't know how it happened!" Michelle added, "We are so excited. I was not thinking that God would give us another one, and we are just so grateful." The couple had hinted last night on their blog that they'd be making a "special announcement" this morning, but many assumed it would be about another grandchild.

When Curry asked the question that most of us are thinking -- WHY?! -- Michelle said they live by the motto "There's always room for one more." Plus, as Jim Bob says, one kid just moved out to start his own family so there was space available in Casa Duggar.

Watch the happy couple's announcement after the jump.

by Chris Harnick, posted Oct 31st 2011 10:10AM
Today Halloween Costumes'Today' (weekdays, 7AM ET on NBC) took the Royal Wedding, the biggest crossover news story of the year, and turned it into one very spectacular group Halloween costume.

For a few minutes, it looked like the show had started to play the wrong video. Call it one sweet trick, followed by a very royal treat as Matt Lauer appeared as Prince William, decked out in full British military dress. Ann Curry slipped into a version of Kate Middleton's stunning gown, Al Roker donned his best wig and dressed as Prince Harry, Natalie Morales channeled her best Pippa, and Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb put on their party hats and dressed as Beatrice and Eugenie, the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson.

Bill said they're both doing okay, and that Giuliana expects to return to work next week. He also thanked viewers at home on her behalf for all their support: "It's definitely helped Giuliana get through this." The two-hour surgery went well and Giuliana is now recuperating at home.

Bill said that although it was "heartbreaking" to see her have to undergo the surgery, "we're looking at this as a gift" because the cancer was detected in the very early stages. He also said it's helped the couple focus on what's important in life.

Tareq Salahi Hits Interview Circuit After Michaele Runs Away With Journey Guitarist (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 23rd 2011 1:30PM
The sad, tabloid drama featuring Michaele and Tareq Salahi continues to get more national publicity, for some reason. The couple that came into the public consciousness when they crashed a party at the White House and briefly appeared on 'The Real Housewives of D.C.' is making headlines again after Tareq reported his wife missing only to find out that she'd run away with Journey guitarist Neal Schon.

Tareq sat down with Matt Lauer for an emotional, uncomfortable 'Today' (weekdays, 9AM ET on NBC) interview. Lauer pressed Salahi about why he didn't see this coming. "You recently went to a Journey concert, went backstage, took video of it," Lauer said. "I considered Neal a best friend ..." Tareq responded, "I'm betrayed in my view, by not just my wife, but also by Neal."

Jane Lynch Tells Kathie Lee & Hoda How She Fought Through Her Emmy Nerves (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Sep 21st 2011 3:00PM
By all accounts, Jane Lynch did a smashing job as the host of Emmys. She kept the show moving, threw out some well-placed zingers and most importantly to her, didn't fall on her face. Lynch stopped by the fourth hour of 'Today' (9AM ET on NBC) and talked about the experience with Kathie Lee and Hoda.

Lynch was nervous, but after she got through the opening musical number without any screw-ups, she settled down and found her comfort zone. "The relief started right after the opening number when I didn't take a face-plant ... And then it was fun, I actually enjoyed myself."

Meredith Vieira Gets Lip-Dub 'Don't Stop Believing' Send-Off on 'Today' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 8th 2011 12:45PM
Meredith Vieira's farewell flash mob on 'Today'Matt Lauer sitting at a piano lip-synching Journey's 'Don't Stop Believing' would be an odd sight on your average edition of 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC). Even stranger? Abe Vigoda waiting in the green room to hug Meredith Vieira, also dancing, kind of, to Journey. That was just for starters Wednesday as a mix of 'Today' staff members and celebrities got together to give Vieira a farewell lip-dub send-off on her last day.

Everyone wore a T-shirt with their first name, then a symbol, and then "Meredith" emblazoned on the front. Vieira was led through the studio and eventually out into the street by Ann Curry, Al Roker, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb at different points. Jimmy Fallon showed up to mime the guitar solo on a Fender Stratocaster while leading the parade.

It all ended with a large group of people in the street singing to Vieira as Vigoda embraced her. It was obviously a surprise for Vieira, who cried and laughed the whole way through. And Vigoda looked pretty nimble, too.

by Maggie Furlong, posted Jun 7th 2011 12:15PM
Tomorrow is Meredith Vieira's last day co-anchoring 'The Today Show,' but after five years of fun with Matt Lauer, Ann Curry, Al Roker and the rest of the 'Today' gang, they won't let her leave without a big goodbye.

This morning, each of her fellow 'Today' reporters shared their favorite moments with Meredith, including travel, some flubs and producer Meredith trying to wrangle Hoda and Kathie Lee.

Meredith Vieira & Matt Lauer

Lauer, her co-anchor, said it best: "You don't take yourself too seriously -- you never have. You're willing to laugh with a lot of other people, but also at yourself. And I think that's been a terrific quality to have."

But the walk down memory lane got Vieira a little choked up. "For me, it's just being with all of you ... and I get excited every day," she said, tearing up. "This is the best job -- it really is -- and I'm really gonna miss it."

Kathie Lee GiffordWhile their colleagues on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) are in London, Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb are holding down the fort in New York City, but they still got in on the Royal Wedding fun.

How? With cocktails and giant pretzel crowns, of course! Leave it to Kathie Lee and Hoda to yuck it up, Royal Wedding style.

"Wait a minute, put your crown on!" Kathie Lee commands Hoda. "It's pretzel!"

The crown doesn't fit, but that doesn't get in the way of Kathie Lee's day drinking.

Lane Garrison on Going to Jail and Owning Up to His Mistakes on 'Today' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 18th 2011 5:15PM
Lane Garrison on 'Today'Lane Garrison was a rising star with a regular role on the Fox drama 'Prison Break' in 2006 when he made the decisions that led to his vehicular manslaughter conviction in 2007. A teenager died in a Land Rover Garrison was driving while drunk. Garrison spoke of the incident on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) this morning, including his guilty plea.

Garrison held himself up as an example of the tragedy that can happen when someone drives drunk. He mentioned media coverage that quoted him complaining about jail and said that was not the full message: "The message was really, 'Hey, if you don't want to go through what I just went through and if you don't want a family feeling that pain that they just went through, then don't drink and drive."

Garrison pleaded guilty before being sentenced to 40 months in prison. He was released in 2009. "That was the first time I really became a man," said Garrison, "when I accepted responsibility."

Hoda and Billy Ray Cyrus Compete in Earth Day Quiz Fiasco (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 15th 2011 2:55PM
Hoda Kotb and Billy Ray Cyrus on 'Today''Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) is a news and talk show, not a game show, which has never been more apparent than Friday's Earth Day Quiz segment, featuring contestants Hoda Kotb and Billy Ray Cyrus.

Kotb and Cyrus never seemed quite sure what they were doing or what the questions were. They each gave the same wrong answer to one question, and Cyrus seemed reluctant to use his buzzer, randomly shouting answers. When presented with two chopping blocks, one plastic and one wood, Kotb asked, "For what?" When asked which item - drier lint, moldy bread, tea bags, or Cheez Whiz - shouldn't make your compost pile, Cyrus shouted "tea bread."

It was like watching the 'Celebrity Jeopardy' parody on 'Saturday Night Live.'

Katie Couric Tells Matt Lauer She'll Decide on Future 'In the Next Few Weeks' (VIDEO)

by Joel Keller, posted Apr 13th 2011 10:45AM
Matt Lauer interviews Katie Couric on 'Today'In a bit of a surprise, Katie Couric stopped by her old stomping grounds on 'Today' (weekdays, 7AM on NBC) to promote her new book 'The Best Advice I Ever Got: Lessons from Extraordinary Lives.' After she and her old co-anchor Matt Lauer engaged in some chit-chat about the book, Lauer got down to brass tacks, asking Katie what her future plans are.

Couric played coy with Lauer, though she did say she was "excited" about the future. While saying she's really enjoying what she does as the anchor of the 'CBS Evening News,' she also said that "I'm really just in the middle of figuring it out."

Lauer noted that since her contract runs out in June, that time is running short. Is it a matter that she's made up her mind already and hasn't made her decision public? She claims she hasn't, saying that the best place for her may be right where she is on the 'Evening News.' "I'll call you as soon as I know," she joked with Lauer, picking up the banter with him as if she never left.
