Dane Cook Goes Shirtless, Flashes His 'Taylor Swift Tattoo' at ... Taylor Swift (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 23rd 2010 4:01AM
Dane Cook Goes Shirtless, Flashes His 'Taylor Swift Tattoo' at ... Taylor Swift After appearing on 'The Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC), singer Taylor Swift may no longer be so 'Innocent.' Though she might be a little 'Haunted' after gazing upon comedian Dane Cook's naked chest. ( ... Are these Taylor Swift song references working for you, by the way?)

While talking to Jay Leno, the comic revealed the depths of his love for the singer -- the utter, utter depths. "I'm a huge fan," Dane gushed. He then called Taylor "America's Sweetheart." How flattering! Let's stop right there, shall we? But it was not to be. "Here we go!" Cook added, suddenly pulling his sweater off. Uh-oh.

Dane tossed the sweater away, revealing a perfectly hairless chest -- emblazoned with a huge tattoo of the singer's face, with "TAYLOR" written underneath in an "airbrushed T-shirt-style" script. Next, Cook picked up an acoustic guitar -- and started to play. "Taylor Swift ... " he sang, then paused for a long time. Wait. What rhymes with "Swift?"

Kim Kardashian Shows Off Her Sexy Halloween Costumes (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 12th 2010 3:10AM
Kim Kardashian Shows Off Her Sexy Halloween CostumesIn recent years, Halloween has become more, well, "adult." Once upon a time, the holiday was for kids, and involved dressing up as a ghost or a witch (which only required a sheet, or a hat/broom combo). But now, adults choose increasingly sexy costumes.

Kim Kardashian is no exception to this trend. On 'The Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC), Kim recapped the different Halloween costumes she considered this year -- accompanied by photos of her wearing them. Her selections included: A sexy leopard, a sexy pirate, a sexy Queen of Hearts, and a sexy Little Red Riding Hood.

Rick Fox Talks About His 'Dancing With the Stars' MustacheThis week on 'Dancing With the Stars,' Rick Fox danced the tango with partner Cheryl Burke ... while sporting a mustache. Oddly, Fox didn't have a mustache the week before, and he didn't have one the next day. So where did it come from?

On 'The Tonight Show' (11:35PM ET on NBC), Fox explained everything. He also tried on a new fake mustache, one he claimed was made from his chest hair. But before we get to the fake one, what was the deal with the 'DWTS' one?

Jimmy Smits Gushes Over Singer Jackie Evancho, Says She's "Like an Angel" (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 24th 2010 5:34AM
Jimmy Smits Gushes Over Singer Jackie Evancho, Says She's 'Like an Angel'We still kind of feel like 10-year-old opera singer Jackie Evancho should have won this year's 'America's Got Talent.' But whether you supported Jackie or not, the new 'Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC) makes one thing clear -- actor Jimmy Smits is a big, big fan.

Smits and Evancho both showed up to chat with Jay Leno, and Jimmy revealed that he had been in the audience for one of Jackie's previous performances. He gushed with admiration for the pint-sized singer, saying that she was "like an angel," and adding that she had a "voice from God." Aw -- how sweet.

Jay Leno and Chelsea Handler Flirt, Struggle With "Sexual Tension" on 'The Tonight Show' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Sep 9th 2010 2:35AM
Jay Leno and Chelsea Handler Flirt, Struggle With 'Sexual Tension' on 'The Tonight Show'Chelsea Handler was the guest on 'The Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC). And while Chelsea was talking with Jay Leno, some sparks flew between the two rival talk show stars. Jay started out by congratulating Ms. Handler on her new gig as host of the MTV Video Music Awards. Chelsea said this in reply: "They were actually gonna ask you to do it, but then they realized you're too old." Ouch!

In response, Leno fired back with this: "Yeah, I didn't sleep with a guy [to get the job] either." Oh, snap! That's pretty harsh, coming from Jay. This was also a thinly veiled reference to the fact that Chelsea used to date the CEO of the E! Network, which led to rumors that she got her 'Chelsea Lately' job via having sex with the boss.

'Tonight Show' Struggles to Maintain Ratings Lead

by Scott Harris, posted Jul 1st 2010 4:39PM
There's good news and bad news for Jay Leno, once and future host of 'The Tonight Show.' The good news: 'The Tonight Show' is still on top of the late night ratings. The bad news: that's not saying much.

According to Deadline, the second quarter ratings are in and during the first full quarter since Leno's return to 'The Tonight Show,' the venerable late night institution posted its lowest ratings since rival David Letterman launched 'The Late Show' back in 1993.

As low as the figures were, though -- 'The Tonight Show' averaged just 4 million total viewers for the quarter -- they were still strong enough to eke out a win over 'The Late Show,' which bagged 3.3 million viewers. Still, thanks to Letterman's somewhat younger audience, the gap between the shows in terms of the key 18-49 demographic was razor thin, with 'The Tonight Show' hanging on to the win with a 1.1 rating compared to 'The Late Show's' 0.9.

The Situation'Jersey Shore' star Mike 'The Situation' Sorrentino stopped by 'The Tonight Show' (weeknights, 11:35PM on NBC) and endured endless insults about his high school photo.

Jay Leno wouldn't let him live down the pimply picture. "I'm surprised you didn't get a couple of acne commercials," Leno said. "Maybe a big Clearasil account."

The Situation said that was him building his way up to where he is today, but Leno shot back, "You couldn't be any lower than that picture, so you have to come up."

Rickey Minor to Replace Kevin Eubanks

by Andrew Scott, posted Apr 13th 2010 11:11PM
Rickey MinorNBC has tapped 'American Idol' music director Rickey Minor to replace 'Tonight Show' bandleader Kevin Eubanks, effective Mon., Jun. 7.

The news comes just one day after Eubanks confirmed that he will be leaving the 'Tonight Show' on May 28, ending a nearly 20-year history with the show.

"After 18 years, I just need a change of pace and see what else is going on," he told Leno during last night's 'Tonight Show' taping. "But it's a really difficult decision because this has become my second home."

Minor -- who will leave 'Idol' in May after three years with the show -- has served as musical director of a number of high-profile television events, including the Super Bowl, Grammy Awards and NAACP Image Awards. He's also worked musical artists ranging from Ray Charles to Beyonce.

Bill Maher Tonight Show with Jay LenoBill Maher stopped by 'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno' (weeknights at 11:35PM ET on NBC) and discussed the current political hot topic: health care reform.

Maher gave credit to the Tea Party political movement for helping get the bill passed. Wait, what?

"I have to say, I thank the Tea Baggers ... they're the ones who got it passed." The reason? Maher said they dressed up in costumes, put tea bags on their hats and carried doctored photos of President Obama. "America saw that and said 'What loons, we're going with the calm black man.'"

Betty White May Host 'Saturday Night Live' Solo After All

by Gary Susman, posted Mar 3rd 2010 2:30PM
Good news, bad news: The bad news is, while 'Saturday Night Live' will indeed have a "Women in Comedy" special in April, Betty White won't be part of it. The good news is, 'SNL' producers are still in talks with her about the solo hosting gig that her nearly half a million Facebook fans have been clamoring for.

The news came from a panel discussion in New York on Tuesday night about 'SNL,' whose attendees included longtime 'SNL' executive producer Lorne Michaels and 'SNL' head writer/'Weekend Update' anchor Seth Meyers. "I think it's happening," Meyers told Jezebel.com, about a White hosting gig. "We would love to have her."

Jay Leno's 'Tonight Show' Return Is a Ratings Winner

by Gary Susman, posted Mar 2nd 2010 2:30PM
Jay LenoMeet the new boss, same as the old boss.

To no one's surprise, Jay Leno's much-heralded return to 'The Tonight Show' on Monday was a ratings success, at least according to early overnight numbers. According to the Hollywood Reporter, advance numbers show Leno winning his timeslot with a 5.4 rating in metered market households and a rating of 2.0 among adults 18-49. That easily beat the 3.0 household rating for 'The Late Show With David Letterman' on CBS and the ABC ratings (cited by Entertainment Weekly) of 3.4 for 'Nightline' and 1.8 for 'Jimmy Kimmel Live.'

Leno's return had coattails too. Following 'Tonight,' NBC's 'Late Night With Jimmy Fallon' posted a 2.1 rating, twice its fourth-quarter 2009 average and enough to beat usual timeslot victor 'The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson' by 40 percent.

NBC: 'In the Toilet Right Now'

by Stephanie Earp, posted Jan 18th 2010 12:30PM

For crimes against Conan O'Brien, NBC is on trial. As with so many trials lately, this one is being played out in the media.

I'm sure NBC executives were somewhat prepared to endure a few jabs from Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais last Sunday. After all, the 'Late Night Wars' are the only recent news that could possibly be turned into a joke. But when Julia Roberts tells you off on the red carpet, you know you are losing the PR war. Instead of telling the inflatable pre-show hosts "who" she was wearing, Julia turned to the camera and told NBC they were "in the toilet right now." Even Juliana Margulies - who rose to fame on 'ER', an NBC drama that aired at 10 o'clock - took an indirect potshot at NBC. As she accepted her award for best actress in a television drama for 'The Good Wife' she thanked her network, CBS, for "believing in the 10 o'clock drama."

Dear NBC: Just Let Jay Leno Go

by Gary Susman, posted Jan 12th 2010 6:30PM
Dear NBC,

There's a simple solution to your late-night dilemma, though you're not going to like it: Let Jay Leno go.

He's given you decades of yeoman service, including 14 years of top ratings on 'The Tonight Show.' But his time has passed. It's time to thank him for his invaluable contribution to the network, hand him a gold watch and let him spend the rest of his days puttering in his garage or doing stand-up in Vegas.

What Could NBC Air at 10PM in Jay Leno's Place?

by Gary Susman, posted Jan 8th 2010 3:30PM
The Jay Leno Show premiereGiven the reports that NBC is on the verge of admitting that five nights a week of 'The Jay Leno Show' was a mistake and moving the former 'Tonight Show' host back to late night, how will the network fill five nights of suddenly vacant 10PM programming?

It's been rumored that this move has been in the works for a while, and that it's why NBC has purchased so many series pilots (about 18 of them) in recent weeks. But those shows are meant for the fall season and probably wouldn't be ready to go into full production in time for the March departure of the Leno show. So NBC will have to scramble to fill five hours of primetime programming.
