Chynna Phillips Gets a Chance at Redemption After 'DWTS' Fall (VIDEO)

by Stephanie Opella, posted Oct 13th 2011 7:30PM
Chynna Philips and Tony Dovolani had a rough night on Monday's 'Dancing with the Stars,' and on Tuesday's elimination show, America told them it was time to go home. On 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) they discussed their misfortune and got a chance to redeem themselves with a do-over.

The dance was replayed with their mics on, and as things started to fall apart Chynna can be heard saying, "I don't know what's happening." Sherri Shepherd complimented Tony on encouraging and taking care of Chynna. "Well, we saw what Maksim and Kirstie Alley did. She just fell, remember?"

'Dancing With the Stars' Week Four: Ricki Gets a Perfect 10 & Cher Cries Over Chaz!

by Crystal Bell, posted Oct 10th 2011 11:59PM
CHER!Let's face it: You don't really want a recap this week. You just want to know how many times the 'Dancing With the Stars' cameras panned to Cher. So, I'm going to try and do both.

Cher looked like a proud mama watching her son dance to the theme from 'Rocky.' it was Chaz's best performance ... EVER (but I'm not changing my mind about this). It even brought Carrie Ann -- and Cher! -- to tears. However, did the crowd really give Cher a standing ovation when Chaz mentioned her? Chaz, you may have had your best dance of the competition, but you still got served by your mother. Granted, your mother is Cher.

Speaking of Cher, one of my favorite parts of the night was watching Cher's reactions to the judges critiquing Chaz. She was cheering, clapping, jumping and even praying -- yes, praying. It was pretty adorable.

'DWTS' Backstage Report: Who's Going Home First? Also, Julianne Hough is Returning!

by Michael Maloney, posted Sep 20th 2011 7:00AM
'DWTS' 13 CastIt's difficult to predict just who's going to be eliminated on tonight's results show of 'Dancing With the Stars.'

The scores ranged from 14 for pro basketball player Ron Artest (a.k.a. Metta World Peace) to 22 each for singer Chynna Phillips and 'All My Children' actor J.R. Martinez.

Since Artest's pro partner, Peta Murgatroyd, is also new to the show it's not like she's bringing in a lot of votes. Still, pro athletes have always done well on 'DWTS.'

How did the stars and pro dancers think they did? AOL TV was on the post-show press line to get reactions.

Chelsie Hightower Gives Poor Grade to Romeo for 'DWTS' Kiss (VIDEO)

by Donald Deane, posted Apr 26th 2011 11:15AM
Chelsie Hightower Gives Poor Grade to Romeo for 'DWTS' KissThe intimate kiss between Romeo and Chelsie Hightower may have added to the dramatic effect of their performance on 'Dancing With the Stars' last night. But, according to Tony Dovolani on 'Good Morning America' (weekdays, 7AM ET on ABC), the kiss itself didn't exactly earn high marks from Hightower.

Romeo placed a planned kiss on Hightower's lips after the pair completed a waltz to 'My Heart Will Go On' from 'Titanic.' And although it looked passionate enough, Hightower gave the lip lock a mediocre rating, said Dovolani.

by Michael Maloney, posted Apr 6th 2011 7:00AM
'DWTS' Season 12 Week 3 Elimination: Wendy WilliamsSurprise eliminations on 'Dancing With the Stars' aren't unusual. And, then, there are weeks in which the obvious contestant gets the boot. That's what happened last night when Wendy Williams, who'd scored a mere 15 points in Week Three, was sent packing.

The talk show diva was the first to admit that she's not a dancer, and her Foxtrot on Monday night proved her point. She earned a mere 15 points, down two points from her Week Two routine.

Williams and her pro partner, Tony Dovolani, spoke to reporters on the post-show press line. TV Squad was on the scene to get the scoop directly from the duo about their thoughts and feelings about being eliminated and their plans for the future.

'Dancing With the Stars' Results: Week Three Elimination (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 5th 2011 11:55PM
Week Three Elimination, 'Dancing with the Stars'In this third week of competition on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Tue., 8PM ET on ABC), there were some pretty clear front-runners and some pretty clear contenders for being the next contestant sent home.

For the second week in a row, talk show host Wendy Williams and her professional dancer partner Tony Dovolani received the lowest marks from the judges. They also had the second-lowest points total last week, just escaping elimination. In other words, Williams was going to need her fan-base to pull her through this week.

With every other couple scoring a 20 or better to Williams' 15, it seemed unlikely that someone else would be sent packing, but that's the kind of unpredictability and drama that reality television is made of.

by Donald Deane, posted Apr 5th 2011 1:30PM

On 'The Wendy Williams Show' (weekdays, syndicated), Williams broke down and cried over the possibility she may be eliminated from the dance competition.

"I'm going to take what the judges say under advisement and if we don't get eliminated tonight, then I'm going to dance the waltz next week to the best of my ability," promised Williams. "The purpose of my being here is to show women that we can do anything that we put our minds to."

Backstage Interviews at 'Dancing With the Stars': Week One Was 'Terrifying'

by Michael Maloney, posted Mar 22nd 2011 9:00AM
Karina Smirnoff and Ralph MacchioRalph Macchio, 49, and Kirstie Alley, 60, are two of the older contestants on season 12 of 'Dancing With the Stars,' but after the first night of dancing they took early leads with top scores of, respectively, 24 and 23.

The star of 'The Karate Kid' and his pro partner, Karina Smirnoff, performed a Foxtrot that judge Len Goodman called the best one of the night.

Macchio's an actor; did that play a role in how successfully he embraced his part on the dance floor?

"Yes. Dancing is like acting only you use your body," said Smirnoff. "It allows him tap into the character so much better."

"[Acting] is less painful," joked Macchio. "Less painful."

On the 'DWTS' Scene: Audrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani Talk About Their Shocking Exit

by Michael Maloney, posted Oct 27th 2010 1:45PM
Audrina PatridgeAudrina Patridge and Tony Dovolani's paso doble to the Queen hit 'Another One Bites the Dust' on Monday's rock and roll week show sadly turned prophetic.

In a shocking twist, the duo -- despite being in second place -- were eliminated after failing to get enough viewer votes to remain in the competition.

The pair had every reason to believe they'd be called safe after earning an impressive combined total of 32 points on Monday night's performance episode, which included a dance competition segment. They were well ahead of low-scoring couples Kurt Warner and Anna Trebunskaya and Bristol Palin and Mark Ballas.

On the 'DWTS' Scene: How Did Bristol Palin Turn It Around?

by Michael Maloney, posted Oct 26th 2010 10:55AM
Bristol Palin, Mark BallasA series of surprises on 'Dancing With the Stars' could leave Bristol Palin on the show's ballot until November.

For starters, the teen activist and partner Mark Ballas earned their highest score yet with a 23 for their tango Monday night. They also picked up an additional 4 points during a group competition, which gives them a 5 point lead over the show's bottom-scoring couple.

"I realized if I wasn't going to go all out this week, that I'd be going home," Palin told TV Squad after the show's taping. "So I put everything I had into this dance and worked my butt off! Messing up last week could have destroyed me or given me more motivation and it did [the latter.]"

A Dance Marathon on 'Dancing With the Stars' (VIDEO)

by Oliver Miller, posted Oct 26th 2010 5:04AM
A Dane Marathon on 'Dancing With the Stars'It was Rock 'n' Roll night on 'Dancing With the Stars' (Mon., 8PM ET on ABC), and for the episode's finale, the contestants found themselves stuck between a rock ... and a hard place. 'DWTS' abandoned its traditional format to feature a dance marathon. The contestants all had to get out on the dance floor together, and there was nowhere to hide.

[Warning: Spoiler alert.]

During the marathon, the judges eliminated the players one by one. The last couple standing would gain an additional ten points for the night. Brandy and Maksim Chmerkovskiy had the highest score from the regular portion of the evening -- they got 26 points out of 30 for their rendition of the tango. But this success wouldn't necessarily translate to the more endurance-focused marathon segment.

On the 'DWTS' Scene: Florence Henderson Remembers the Late Robert Reed

by Michael Maloney, posted Oct 19th 2010 11:00AM
Florence Henderson, Corky BallasLast week, 'Dancing With the Stars' producers weren't sure if they could get the rights to 'The Brady Bunch' theme song for Florence Henderson (aka Carol Brady) and pro partner Corky Ballas to use during their TV theme week performance.

As viewers saw last night, the song was approved. While it wasn't perhaps the best tune to tango to, it did have great sentimental value to Henderson.

"The reason I really wanted to dance to the 'Brady Bunch' theme was because I wanted to dedicate it to Bob," Henderson told TV Squad on the post-show press line, referring to the late Robert Reed (who played her TV husband Mike Brady.)

"To lose him to AIDS [in 1992] broke all of our hearts. The fact that Barry [Williams, Greg] was here and knows how close we all were to Bob ... that was my dedication tonight."

'DWTS' Performers Create a Flash Mob on 'Extreme Makeover'It's time to move to the groove on 'Extreme Makeover' (Sun., 8PM ET on ABC). The 'Makeover' crew visited Neenah, Wisconsin -- where they helped out Rhex Arboleda and his family.

Rhex Arboleda and his wife were living in a tiny house with their five children. Rhex is a hometown hero -- despite his tough circumstances, he created a local program called "Move to the Groove," to help fight childhood obesity.

So it was appropriate that 'Dancing With the Stars' cast members showed up to help out. Derek Hough even insisted on pitching in with the construction work during the week-long "build."
