NCIS did something so great on tonight's episode that I'm surprised I haven't seen it done on another procedural until now. If you haven't seen the show yet, I won't spoil it, but I will say that it was a complication that really made the show.

There were moments for DiNozzo to reference all kinds of TV shows from the past, a chance for Gibbs to prove that there's nothing he can't handle with aplomb, and even the opportunity for Abby to show that sans Cafe Pow, she's still the sharpest lab tech in NCIS. More on the case after the jump.

I hate the new Sportscenter commercials - VIDEO

by Allison Waldman, posted Aug 6th 2008 1:43PM
Sportscenter logoHave you seen the annoying new ad campaign for the ESPN SportsCenter relaunch? If you watch even a half-hour of ESPN programming -- or like me, Around the Horn and Pardon the Interruption -- you can't miss these commercials.

There's a young, 20-something guy named Steve running around with a bulky, scoreboard-like digital clock with a strap that hangs around his neck like he's a peanut vendor at a baseball game.

The ads show him going through his day -- working out at the gym, jogging -- while he's waiting for the launch of the new, 9-hour SportsCenter on August 11. The commercials are completely live, which I grant you is novel, but they are not funny, clever or up to the ESPN standard. I hate them. They're jarring, poorly done and, like I said, annoying. I guess some genius in marketing decided that any way to make the viewer remember that a new format is coming is good enough.

Here's a sample of Steve's work (don't say I didn't warn you!):

Carrie Underwood wins big at CMT Awards

by Liz Finn-Arnold, posted Apr 17th 2007 12:41PM
Carrie UnderwoodAmerican Idol's fourth season winner and country darling, Carrie Underwood, continues to rack up the honors, taking home two Country Music Televison (CMT) awards on Monday, April 16. Carrie was given the "CMT Music Awards Video of the Year" and "Female Video of the Year" for her hit single "Before He Cheats." Roman White was awarded the "Video Director of the Year" for Carrie's song.

Besides winning Grammys and other prestigious accolades, Carrie continues to pump out hit singles. Carrie's single "Wasted" recently became her fourth #1 hit on the country charts. "Jesus, Take the Wheel," "Don't Forget to Remember Me," and "Before He Cheats" also reached the top spot. Carrie's album, Some Hearts, has sold more than 5 million copies to date.

Looks like things are going pretty well in Carrie's personal life, as well. According to Star Magazine, Carrie is set to marry Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo.

Mr. Belding rocks out to Journey - VIDEO

by Adam Finley, posted Feb 17th 2007 11:04AM

dennis haskinsHello, are you enjoying your weekend?

Yeah, thanks for asking, Adam.

No prob. Do you know what would make your day even better?

Um, Mr. Belding from Saved By the Bell singing "Don't Stop Believing" by Journey?

Yes, imaginary person in my head, that's exactly what would make this great day even greater, and just for you and all my adoring readers, I've placed a video after the jump of Belding himself (real name: Dennis Haskins) joining metal band Metal Skool on stage along with football player Tony Romo for a rousing rendition of the hit song. Belding even treats the crowd to a truncated version of the Saved By the Bell theme. The best part comes toward the beginning when he's mistakenly introduced as "Mr. Belvedere."

The video contains LOTS OF CURSING, so don't watch it of you're at work or church.
