Teams Test Their Aim with AK-47s on 'Top Shot' (VIDEO)
by Nick Zaino, posted Aug 16th 2011 5:00PM
Want shooting without all of that boring dialogue and plot getting in your way? 'Top Shot' (Tuesdays, 10PM on History) is your show. For the uninitiated, 'Top Shot' is a marksman competition that tests its pre-selected crew of shooters with different weapons every week. Tuesday, it was the AK-47 assault rifle. Two teams, the Red Team and the Blue Team, had their marksmen shooting at targets at varying distances while their teammates ran an obstacle course. The Blues took an early lead, hitting their first two targets on the first shot. Then the Blue team hit their 50-yard targets and the Red team hit their 75-yard targets.
Then the Reds pulled away. Their last shooter was on his way through the obstacle course as the last two Blues were still shooting. If it's any consolation, at least the exploding mortars were pretty.

It was like watching a good old-fashioned cowboy movie on 'Top Shot' (Tue., 10PM ET on HIST) this week.Sharpshooters Amanda and Mark faced off in the elimination round, which featured that old movie stuntman favorite: Shooting from a stagecoach as it barrels downhill at speed.
As they rode atop the stagecoach, which was driven by a guy wearing a black stetson and red kerchief (natch) and pulled by four white horse, they fired at targets on the side of the path.

Think you've got what it takes to be a "top shot?" The History Channel thinks so, as they've announced the network's first reality-style game show. 'Top Shot' will feature contestants vying in sharp-shooting contests, in which each week one contestant is eliminated. According to the Hollywood Reporter, elimination challenges will be "inspired by real-life events in history, from Wild West shootouts to sniper missions."
The show is set to premiere in 2010 and has an initial 10-episode order. The show's inception comes from reality television veteran Craig Piligian ('Dirty Jobs,' 'Ghost Hunters'). ."
