I admit it, I love Twitter. I'm not a Facebook guy, but Twitter is great for so many things. Including minute by minute descriptions of what it's like to be trapped in the elevator of a large office building. 'Today's' Ann Curry and other journalists were trapped in an elevator at the New York Times building yesterday, and not only did they tweet about it, they made a video (and another one)!

There's something odd and funny about a bunch of people stuck in an elevator, frantically pecking away on their Blackberries.

Remember the scene in 'You've Got Mail' when Tom Hanks and Parker Posey are trapped in the elevator and the only way they can contact someone is via the phone in the elevator that goes to the maintenance department? Scenes like that would have to be written a whole different way in this age of video phones and Twitter.

At first I thought this was a movie, but it's actually a weekly series. NBC has picked it up for 13 episodes. It's about a group of people who are mysteriously kidnapped and wake up in an apartment building being watched and studied by...someone. Personally I don't know what they're complaining about, the apartment and the town look pretty nice to me. People are so hard to please these days.

Three mountain climbers go up on Mt. Hood. They get in trouble, socked in by a storm. They call for help. There's a search party. One's found dead; the others are still missing.

Don't get me wrong; it's a sad story. I feel for the families of the men trapped on the mountain. But this doesn't feel like news to me.

Since climbing during any time of the year, much less winter, isn't exactly a risk-free activity, I'd imagine that one or two climbers get trapped on the mountain every year. So why has this incident been the top story on all the local and network news broadcasts for the last five days?

(S10E06) I'm like, totally cereal, guys.

If nothing else, last night's episode proved that South Park is still an equal opportunity offender. In this episode, Al Gore comes to South Park to warn everyone about Manbearpig (read: global warming), a creature who is half man, half bear, and half pig. Or possibly half man and half bearpig. No one really knows for sure because Gore is apparently the only one who believes he exists.
