by Elizabeth Chan, posted Nov 19th 2009 2:56PM
'Trauma' saves itself out of cancellation. Less than a month after announcing it was going to cancel 'Trauma', NBC has had a change of heart.

TV Shows Most Likely to Be Canceled: We Made the Odds, Now Place Your Bets

by Bryan Enk, posted Nov 9th 2009 3:11PM

It seems like just yesterday we were greeting the lineup of the 2009-2010 television season; every show was equal, and no show had a better chance at success than any other. What a difference a few weeks make, as now some series are already looking down the barrel of a shotgun, ready to be canceled with barely a few episodes out the gate. Television is a cutthroat world indeed -- here we look at the series that are currently on thin ice, and the odds that they'll come out the other side.

Don't agree with our odds? Let us know!

ABC:

'Ugly Betty'
It wasn't long ago that 'Ugly Betty' had its supporters in droves, proclaiming its brilliance to the heavens. Now, alas, the show seems to have been abandoned, allegedly returning this season only so it has enough episodes in the vault to qualify for syndication. Which it does, so there!
Odds of Cancellation: 2 to 1

Why doesn't NBC just remake The Magician?

by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 29th 2009 7:01PM
NBC canceled Southland and they canceled Trauma. But they're interested in a crime-solving magician.

The network has given the greenlight to a pilot for a new drama that will feature a magician who solves crimes. It will be produced and directed by Jon Amiel and written by NCIS' Dan Fesman. No title yet, but I bet NBC will lean towards something like The Magician (hey, it's sorta like The Mentalist!) instead of something lame like Hocus Pocus or Now You See It or something other magic cliche.

Of course, NBC already had a show called The Magician that was about... a crime-solving magician! I loved this show. It starred Bill Bixby, pre-Hulk. It's the show Mulder was watching when Samantha was kidnapped.

NBC Cancels 'Trauma' - Sends Medical Drama to the Morgue

'Trauma' has been following NBC's once-promising 'Heroes,' averaging around 5.5 million viewers per week.

After the series runs its course, the slightly more popular 'Chuck' will fill the Monday at 9PM time slot. In the wake of 'Trauma''s cancellation, it was also announced that 'Chuck' has been granted 19 episodes for its forthcoming season.

TraumaYou really can't leave your computer or your TV screen anymore or you'll miss the latest news/cancellation from NBC. The latest? Trauma, the new, heavily-hyped medical drama that had that big splashy pilot with the helicopter and car crashes.

Does this news really surprise anyone though?

Aimee Garcia Deals With 'Trauma'

by Scott Harris, posted Oct 12th 2009 12:00PM
Aimee Garcia"It's like 'ER' times 10."

That's how actress Aimee Garcia described her new show 'Trauma' to us when we caught up to her recently. The medical drama, which airs Mondays at 9PM as part of NBC's revamped line-up, "pushes the envelope on all levels. It's like 'ER', but instead of opening someone's throat in an operating room, you're opening someone's throat in a moving helicopter."

Garcia, who plays pilot Marisa Benez, dished about riding along on actual 911 calls, hanging from a crane and feedback from real-life EMTs.

Did the Trauma team seem really reckless?

by Jane Boursaw, posted Oct 1st 2009 2:02PM
TraumaI watched the series premiere of Trauma the other night (which, quite frankly, I probably won't be watching, because I've already got enough trauma in my own life without watching other peoples' trauma on TV), but one of the things I thought while watching the show was, "Who hired these people anyway?"

I'm not talking about the actors. I'm talking about the fictional trauma team on the show. Much of the trauma they dealt with was trauma that they themselves caused, including the mid-air helicopter crash at the beginning and the scene later where one of the team drives recklessly through the streets and takes a guy's finger off in the process. I don't know about you, but if this team was in my town, I'd be looking for a recall or some firings or something!

What's next? A giant pile-up on the freeway because one of the team was texting while driving? Or perhaps one of them will crack under the pressure, strap on a bomb, and head for the nearest mall.

Trauma: Pilot (series premiere)

by Bob Sassone, posted Sep 29th 2009 2:35AM
Trauma(S01E01) The first question I had after watching the new NBC medical drama Trauma was this: can the show keep this up every week?

You can tell a lot of money was spent on the pilot, because the first 20 minutes is like Irwin Allen: The Movie. Helicopters crash, cars explode, children are endangered. It's like those big episodes of ER where something massive happened, only this is going to be a regular thing with this show (if, as I said above, they can spend a lot of money on future episodes).

But what about the rest of the show? It's one thing to have big accidents and pyrotechnics (which are actually very impressive) but what about the cast, the writing, the stories?
