John From Cincinnati is really bad, says TV critic
Julia will have her review of the new HBO series John From Cincinnati when it premieres after the Sopranos finale on June 10, but San Francisco Chronicle critic Tim Goodman has seen the first three episodes, and he's not impressed. In fact, he's depressed.
Goodman says that the heads of fans of David Milch's other show, Deadwood, will "explode" when they see this, that they would get rid of Deadwood just to air this show. He won't have his full review 'til Sunday, but on his blog, Goodman says that HBO made "a total blunder" and that the show is just "a total mess." Wow, I guess we'll have to wait for his full review to find out what he really thinks.
As I said yesterday, I'm going to give it a shot. I mean, the previews are just so bizarre that you have to check it out.
Not everyone is happy about the new Larry Sanders set
As we told you earlier, Sony Pictures is going to release a 4 disc Not Just The Best Of The Larry Sanders Show DVD set on April 17. The set will include 23 of the best episodes, a ton of extras like interviews and behind the scenes footage, and new interviews with costars and guest stars, but some fans aren't too happy about how the show is being handled.
The first season DVD set was released in 2002 and, according to DVD Dossier, was met with anger by fans of the show. They say the video transfer was really grainy and unprofessional, not to mention the fact that the extras were lacking. The site wants to know why they are releasing this "best of" set instead of continuing the season sets with a release of season 2.
Anyone have the first season DVD set? How is it? Are you looking forward to this set?

The Five: What are your New Year's TV Resolutions?
I mentioned in a recent post that I resolved a few months ago not to watch the unholy crapfests that are Entertainment Tonight, The Insider, and Access Hollywood, but I still have a few New Year's resolutions to make when it comes to my TV viewing.
1. I resolve not to watch American Idol. I tried to do this last year and failed. You watch one episode of those damn auditions and you get laughing and you're hooked, like eating one Lay's potato chip or trying heroin. But after what happened last year (great singers not making it far enough, phone screw ups, Taylor Hicks winning), it's one show I don't want to bother with anymore.
