TV Stars Contending for Grammys
The Grammys hand out its awards tonight at 8PM ET on CBS, and if you scanned the humongous nomination list (109 categories, hello!), you found a lot of TV favorites there. Some of them are in niche categories that will probably not be featured on tonight's broadcast. But we expect to see at least a few of the following stars in their Staples Center seats, if not bringing it on stage
"Dancing with the Stars' is surprisingly well-represented on the Grammy list. Season 2 contestant Tia Carrere -- also known as Cha Cha on 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' -- contends in Best Hawaiian Music Album for her CD 'Huana Ke Aloha.' And last season's 'DWTS' resident comic hoofer Margaret Cho (photo) is represented in the Best Comedy Album category for 'Cho Dependent'.
Bad news for Wonder Years fans
If you've been waiting for them to release The Wonder Years on DVD (besides best of sets), you're going to have to wait a lot longer. The DVDs are at least a couple of years away.
And to rub a little salt in the wounds, when the show is released it won't contain any of the soundtrack that they used on the show! Yikes.
Not having the period music on The Wonder Years would be like cutting out the space scenes on Star Trek. It was as much a part of the show as the characters were, as the voice over narration by Daniel Stern. But getting the rights to music to use on TV shows is incredibly expensive, and if you have a show like The Wonder Years that used a ton of songs from the 60s and 70s, it's going to be so expensive they have to either release the DVDs without the music or not release the DVDs at all. It's the same thing holding up the WKRP DVDs.
What do you think? Would you rather see The Wonder Years released, even if it doesn't have the music, or would you rather not see the show on DVD if they're going to cut the music out? I lean toward the latter.
