Tyra Banks's Craziest Moments

by Scott Harris, posted Dec 28th 2009 3:50PM
As the decade winds to a close, it's only natural to look back at the events that have shaped and informed our lives over the last 10 years in order to take stock of how our world has changed. And in retrospect, one trend above all others stands out this century: Tyra Banks is crazy.

Whether she's crazy good or crazy bad, of course, is entirely in the eye of the beholder, but over the course of her five years at the helm of 'The Tyra Show,' perhaps no other daytime talk host gave us as many buzzed-about moments, from the worthy to the cringe-worthy.

Sadly for everyone, though, Banks announced earlier today that 'The Tyra Show' will be ending this spring at the conclusion of its fifth season. This won't mean the end of Tyra herself, of course; she's still going to be delivering shows such as 'America's Next Top Model' and 'True Beauty,' stating on her website that "There's a lot cooking right now and a lot of fire burning in my heart." She also told PEOPLE that she plans to focus on film projects (!!).

But while that internal barbecue will no doubt continue to serve up plenty more in the future, we have to admit we're going to miss the unpredictable hour of weirdness that 'The Tyra Show' has brought to our afternoons for the past half decade. So with that in mind, and to celebrate the contributions Tyra has made to the world of daytime television, we now present to your our list of the craziest moments ever on the 'The Tyra Show.'

Tyra Banks Show canceled by Tyra Banks

by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 28th 2009 1:00PM
TyraTyra Banks has announced that the fifth season of her show will be the last season of her show.

That means no more episodes of Tyra dressing up in a fat suit. No more episodes where Tyra makes us squirm with discussions of bodily functions and weirdness that we really don't want to think about (let alone yet). And those are just the two episodes that I've seen. I'm sure you have your own memories of things that happened on the show.

Banks says that she will now focus more on her movie production company Bankable Films. She says she will continue to do things that will keep women and girls "fierce." Whatever that means. (Didn't someone on Project Runway say that?) You'll also get to see Banks on other shows, including The CW's America's Next Top Model and ABC's True Beauty.

Mike Epps on 'The Tyra Show'Who decided that Mike Epps would be the ombudsman for black people all across America? That would be Tyra Banks, the ombudsman ... for anything she wants to talk about.

On 'The Tyra Show,' Epps helpfully answers a myriad questions related to black stereotypes, including "Why do black men always have pit bulls and Rottweilers?" or "What is it that black women do at the salon all day long?"

The six worst talk shows on TV right now - VIDEOS

by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 12th 2009 11:04AM
MauryIt's amazing how many bad talk shows there are on the air. I'm not talking about The Late Show with David Letterman or Late Night with Conan O'Brien or Jimmy Kimmel Live. Those are good shows, and if you clicked on this list expecting to find any of them, you're going to be disappointed. The shows I picked are the talk shows that deal in exploitation, human degradation, and feature terrible, terrible people. In short, daytime talk shows!

Well, OK, I did include one late night talk show, but you'll have to click after the jump to see which one it is.

1. Maury (syndicated). Really, was there any question that this would be number one? It shouldn't even be called Maury anymore, they should just go ahead and call it Paternity Tests!, since that is what it's most known for. Doesn't Povich have enough money? Can't he do something else in his life besides this show? What does Connie think of this? Who knows, considering she co-hosted one of the worst shows from a few years ago. If aliens watch our TV broadcasts and happen upon this show every single morning, we're all doomed.

Tyra Banks reveals her weight

by Julia Ward, posted Jan 25th 2007 2:03PM
Tyra Banks bathing suitDiss her Oprah wannabe ways. Shame her production company's union-busting agenda. Recoil at her transformation into a finger-snappin', head-rollin' drag queen. But, don't say that Tyra Banks is anything short of fearless. In People Magazine's February 5th issue, Banks reveals her actual weight, which has fluctuated between 148 and 162 pounds since she quit modeling in 2005. Banks was upset when unflattering photos of her in a bathing suit appeared online after a Sydney vacation with such headlines as "Tyra Banks is Fat." "It was such a strange meanness and rejoicing that people had when thinking that was what my body looked like. It was really hurtful to me." Banks says that she's "not the healthiest eater" and "not required to live up to that model standard anymore."

You're right, Tyra. You're not required to live up to that standard anymore so the next time you decide to go online do it from on top of a big pile of money that you earned modeling - beer in one hand, Hot Pocket in the other. If it would make you feel better to do something nice for someone else, you could always give your writers health insurance.

Tyra Banks as drag king

by Julia Ward, posted Nov 1st 2006 7:30PM
Tyra BanksWhile Tyra has been looking a bit drag queen-y these days, you're far more likely to catch her playing a drag king. Following up on last year's vapid Tyra-in-a-fat-suit episode of The Tyra Banks Show, Ms. Banks became a Mister in order to infiltrate rapper Chingy's posse.

Set to air on November 13th, Tyra underwent five hours of prep to achieve the gender transformation and donned a suit that gave her pecs and a six-pack. Apparently Tyra isn't going undercover as a guy unless he's cut. Her guise was enough to fool most of Chingy's entourage, but her voice was a dead give-away. The only person she really pulled one over on was a Chingy groupie who kissed Tyra-as-man to get closer to the rap star. Does that qualify as hot lesbian action or not?
