Shonda Rhimes Distances Herself From the Word "Va-jay-jay"

In 2006, the term "va-jay-jay" became a revelation for women looking for a humorous, slightly-urban way to refer to their downstairs lady-parts. It began during the second season of 'Grey's Anatomy,' when Miranda Bailey went into labor and berated an intern, "Stop looking at my va-jay-jay."

caught wind of it and suddenly even Midwestern housewives were whispering "va-jay-jay" to their friends with a smirk.

Shonda Rhimes, creator of 'Grey's Anatomy' and "va-jay-jay," is now trying to curb its usage with her Twitter page. Referring to a headline on the September cover of 'Cosmo,' she tweeted, "Eww. This is taking my word a little 2 far."
