Here's a Sneak Peek at 'Hot in Cleveland' (Betty White's New Show)
by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 19th 2010 1:30PM
You know what? This show looks pretty good. From this clip, it looks like Betty White is as funny as ever, and Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick, and Jane Leeves are likable actresses too. Plus the writing doesn't seem horrible like a lot of sitcoms. I don't know what TV Land would consider a "hit," but this looks like fun. It debuts in June.

Valerie Bertinelli Gets Bleeped on 'The View' (VIDEO)
by Donald Deane, posted Mar 4th 2010 2:30PM
On 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated), an impassioned Valerie Bertinelli weighed in on former New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, who resigned in 2008 after being linked to a high-priced prostitution service. Bertinelli used a bit of colorful language while giving her opinion on Spitzer's infidelity, shocking Sherri Shepherd and earning a stunned look from Joy Behar.

Valerie Bertinelli Sitcom (with Betty White!) is a Go at TV Land
by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 2nd 2010 1:02PM
Betty White has always been beloved by TV fans, but now she has reached a level of attention she probably never had before. She has hundreds of thousands of fans on Facebook who want her to host 'Saturday Night Live,' she's a guest on '30 Rock,' and she made a cameo last night on Leno's first night back behind the 'Tonight Show' desk. And now it looks like she might be back on TV on a regular basis.TheWrap.com says that TV Land has said yes to a new original sitcom titled 'Hot in Cleveland.' It stars Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick, and Jane Leeves as three Los Angeles career women who decide to move to Cleveland and live in a big house (no idea why it has that title though - perhaps global warming has done something to Ohio in the future?). White plays the caretaker of the house in the pilot. Though she hasn't been signed beyond that, you can bet that they'll try to get her to make appearances in later episodes too.
That's a great cast, and it's good to see TV Land doing something besides another season of 'High School Reunion.' They also added 'Bewitched' to their daily lineup and 'Everybody Loves Raymond' is coming soon, so maybe things are getting better there.

'Hot in Cleveland,' starring Valerie Bertinelli, Jane Leeves and Wendie Malick as best friends from Los Angeles whose flight to Paris makes an unscheduled landing in Ohio, has gotten a 10-episode order from TV Land. The 40-something ladies, who are all at a crossroads in their lives, end up staying when they discover how glamorous the Cleveland citizenry finds them. The legendary Betty White plays the brassy, one-liner-prone owner of the property that the ladies rent. The show will begin airing this June.
'One Day at a Time' Stars: Where Are They Now?

One's in 'Celebrity Rehab,' another's headed to TV Land, one's earned an armful of Tonys, one owns a TV station and two of 'em are directing some of TV's current hit shows ... who's who among the cast of the 1975-84 CBS sitcom classic 'One Day at a Time'? Check out our where are they now update for the scoop on the stars behind the show that was -- trivia alert -- co-created by Whitney Blake, the mother of 'Family Ties' star Meredith Baxter (and based on Blake's experiences as a single mom).
Weight Watchers suing Jenny Craig over Valerie Bertinelli commercial
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 20th 2010 5:00PM
If you haven't seen the recent Jenny Craig commercial that features Valerie Bertinelli in a lab, wearing an official-looking lab coat and touting the benefits of Jenny Craig over "the largest weight loss program" (wink wink), here it is. Weight Watchers is suing Jenny Craig for what they say is bogus medical information in the ad.
I hate ads that show someone in a lab coat or standing in front of a bunch of books. Ooooo, he's in front of a bookcase, he must know what he's talking about! [via Gawker]

Betty White Talks About 'Golden Girls' and SAG Lifetime Achievement Award
by Leonard Jacobs, posted Jan 20th 2010 3:00PM
Veterans of early TV are scarce these days, most being retired or, well, really retired. But after 61 years in the business, the legendary Betty White is enjoying her third or fourth career resurgence -- and told AOL TV she's thrilled to be receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from Sandra Bullock at the SAG Awards on Jan. 23.After doing radio and summer stock back in the 1940s, White's big break came as the "telephone girl" on a live, local Los Angeles show, 'Hollywood on Television,' hosted by popular DJ Al Jarvis. With all honors to Lucille Ball and 'I Love Lucy,' that gig led to the creation of one of the first female-driven sitcoms, 'Life with Elizabeth.' The TV skies were the limit from there.
TV Land taps television's vintage hottie vault for new sitcom
by Danny Gallagher, posted Jan 12th 2010 3:30PM

TV Land has officially jumped into the cable sitcom party, even if they showed up just as the hangovers are starting to set in. And for their first venture, they have enlisted the help of some of television's tastiest babes.
Valerie Bertinelli (One Day at a Time), Jane Leeves (Frasier), Wendy Malick (Just Shoot Me) and Betty White (The Golden Girls) have been brought on board to star in Hot for Cleveland, the second sitcom project approved by the cable network. That's right, Betty White is a TV hottie. I will fight ANYONE who makes fun of me for it.
The other show commissioned by TV Land is Retired at 35, and has lined up actor George Segal, Christine Ebersole and SNL alum Casey Wilson, her first role since she was abruptly pumped from the sketch show. Given TV Land's horrible choices in making their own reality shows, do these even have a chance of being a hit?
TV Casting: Valerie Bertinelli, Betty White are 'Hot in Cleveland'; David Strathairn Books 'House'
by Andrew Scott, posted Jan 12th 2010 1:30PM
Four TV vets have just inked deals to star in the new TV Land comedy pilot 'Hot in Cleveland.' Among those joining the show are Valerie Bertinelli, Wendie Malick and 'Frasier''s Jane Leeves as three best friends from Los Angeles who get trapped in Cleveland, then decide to stay when they realize the locals think they're hot. Also on board is Emmy winner Betty White, who will play the trio's "grumpy" and "opinionated" neighbor (how very Sophia Petrillo of her). In the meantime, this marks the second pilot order from the network, after 'Retired at 35,' starring George Segal. No word yet on a premiere date. [Hollywood Reporter]Jason Alexander the latest Jenny Craig pitch man
by Allison Waldman, posted Jan 6th 2010 3:29PM
Nobody can accuse Jason Alexander of not being honest about himself. The actor has not been happy with the way he's been looking of late and he's going to do something about it. Jason Alexander is the new spokesman for Jenny Craig. Not only is it "no soup for you," Jason, it's also no more big salad, too. (Unless the size of Jenny Craig meals have been supersized and nobody told me about it!)Jason is the latest Jenny Craig celebrity pitcher, joining Sara Rue and Valerie Bertinelli. I can't wait to see Jason in a Speedo like Valerie in the bikini! No, seriously, Jason's goal with the diet is clearly all about shrinkage. He wants his old waistline, the one that made George Costanza such a catch.
Mackenzie Phillips was high during One Day at a Time reunion
by Bob Sassone, posted Sep 24th 2009 1:07PM
Like you, I wanted to take a shower and pour bleach into my ears after hearing what Mackenzie Phillips had to say on Oprah yesterday (thanks Oprah). But one of the interesting revelations that has come out of all of this is that Phillips had done heroin and was high during a One Day at a Time reunion on Today last year. Here's the clip from that episode.
Bonus: I didn't realize that One Day at a Time was based on the life of Meredith Baxter's family.

The View's Sherri Shepherd is getting a Lifetime show
by Jason Hughes, posted May 19th 2009 2:25PM
It was inevitable. Ever since Rosie O'Donnell grew a second head and spit venom at Elisabeth Hasselbeck, The View has been on the radar. Even without current host Rosie O'Donnell, there's been buzz with new co-host Whoopi Goldberg. Hasselbeck keeps causing trouble on the set with her lone conservative voice, Whoopi is outspoken in her own right, Joy Behar is a lunatic and even Barbara Walters has been known to snag a headline or two. Of course Lifetime wants a piece of that buzz. And to get it they're grabbing ... uh ... Sherri Shepherd?Doesn't Sherri Shepherd think she'll fall off the edge of the earth if she goes too far? I thought she was still there because they didn't want to have to rebuild the table with one fewer chair. Huh, I guess I was wrong. Lifetime picked up Sherri Shepherd's sitcom Sherri for 12-episodes.
What You MIssed Last Night: Valerie Bertinelli and Marie Osmond battle over diets
by Bob Sassone, posted May 15th 2009 11:25AM
I don't usually post gossip show clips, but I'm doing this for two reasons. One, I find it funny that two 70s icons are going after each other over their weight loss programs. And two, I can't imagine Ted Koppel doing this story when he was on Nightline. (Full Nightline segment here.) Bertinelli calls Osmond's Nutrisystem food "crappy," while Osmond wonders why a 49 year-old would want to be in a bikini. (For the record, I think Bertinelli looks great in a bikini.)
The immortal Valerie Bertinelli signs on for TBS sitcom
by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 20th 2008 11:05AM
Personally, I don't think it's fair that some of these Hollywood folks get to just keep on making television shows. Especially the ones who don't age like the rest of us. I mean, what if I was waiting for Valerie Bertinelli to get too old for television? Or John Stamos, or Michael J. Fox? These people never look any older. I think they've found the Tuck's secret spring and have been sipping it for decades. In the end, there can be only one and my money's on Dick Clark. I think he is one of the Tucks.Bertinelli has just been signed to star in a TBS sitcom as a mother of two. Good lord, One Day at a Time was more than thirty years ago! By my estimations that would make her ... let's see, she was a teenager then ... yes I know you can find her birthday easy enough online ... cross-reference how much hotter she was than Mackenzie Phillips ... then carry Schneider's creepy factor of 9.5 and you get ... one hundred and thirty two years old! Amazing! She doesn't look a day over forty-eight. I've gotta find that spring.
Least surprising news of the day: Valerie Bertinelli gets a talk show
by Bob Sassone, posted Feb 29th 2008 3:20PM
We seem to be in the middle of a Valerie Bertinelli renaissance.
First Bertinelli signed up with Jenny Craig and is the new spokesperson (bye-bye Kirstie Alley), then she became a correspondent for Rachael Ray, then she released a memoir, and then she made the inevitable appearance on Oprah. She was also on Larry King Live earlier this week and when he asked her if she would like to do a talk show, she didn't say "hey, I already have one!" but that must have been the case, because she has one. Bertinelli has signed with CBS to develop a new talk show for the 2009-10 season.
