The Office strikes a deal for a videogame
NBC Universal has Basically, it's a simple and cheap "casual" game that is being produced for low-powered systems like Nintendo DS and Sony PSP handheld--and also for the PC. MumboJumbo's website boasts that it creates addictive, casual videogames. The game will premiere this fall and will likely be available online as well as in stores.
Mega Man just doesn't get it - VIDEO
Some of you may remember a cartoon series that aired in the mid-'90s called Mega Man, based on the Nintendo video game of the same name. The series had something to do with Mega Man, a cyborg of sorts, battling an army of evil robots or some such thing. Whatever, the plot really isn't important, because it has nothing to do with the video I've placed below.
The folks from OvertimeComedy.com have dubbed their voices over a short clip from Mega Man to create "Lack of Social Awareness Mega Man." Instead of battling the forces of evil, Mega Man tries to convince his pal that Six Feet Under is the greatest show ever, and that he should come over to his place and watch it on DVD.
Jackass: the video game
That's right, fans of Jackass, the popular MTV series that spawned two feature films is being turned into a game for the PlayStation 2, PlayStation Portable and Nintendo DS. You can pick up your copy on September 24. Or, you can pick it up after September 24. Or you can order it online and not have to pick it up at all. Or you can use your money to buy a jar of pickles, what the hell do I care?
The Simpsons Xbox 360 console you'll never have
Excuse me if I salivate like Homer standing near a box of donuts, but this is awesome. I want myself a Simpsons Xbox so bad and I don't even play video games. Our pals over at Endgadget, who know more about such things, say that the new system, created as a promotion for the upcoming Simpsons movie, is an Xbox 360 Pro and not an Elite, which apparently means less GBs.
Don't bother trying to find it in stores, though, because only one hundred of these machines were created and they'll be given away at different promotional events as we get closer to the film's release on July 27.
I suppose if you want to you could always just draw a picture of Homer on your Xbox with a Sharpie. Heck, draw Homer on everything in your house and pretend you won some kind of sweepstakes.
King of the Hill: Grand Theft Arlen
(S11E08)
Peggy: There's a brown spot on the lawn, and there is a brown spot on your son.
Wow, a whole hour of King of the Hill. I must say I thought this one had more yucks than the other episode.
Animation news: Maakies, Molemen and Dirk the Daring
Greetings, people reading this right now. Here's another collection of news and notes from the world of animation:
First of all, I'm still trying to figure out if the Aqua Teen movie is really going to debut on Adult Swim April 1, close to two weeks before its theatrical debut on April 13. I first noticed it on the schedule, and then started seeing it promoted during the Adult Swim block. If this is indeed a gag of some sort, they're playing it perfectly straight. I guess we shall all know soon enough. It's not as if creators Matt Maiellaro and Dave Willis haven't messed with their viewer's heads before: they were hyping an Aqua Teen movie before they even knew if it was going to be made.
De La Pena creating new animated shows for G4 and FOX
Adam De La Pena, creator of the Adult Swim series Minoriteam and creator and co-star of the Comedy Central series I'm with Busey has created a new animated series for G4 called Code Monkeys. The series, which was recently picked up for fourteen episodes, takes place in a world that resembles an actual video game from the '80s and will include several allusions to games from that era. De La Pena will direct all the episodes, and will also serve as a writer and the voice of the main character.
Meanwhile, he's also developing another animated series for FOX with the working title Think Tank. The series will spoof office politics and is based on the idea that everything in pop culture is controlled by a single "think tank."
Out of the two projects, I must say Code Monkeys looks the most interesting to me. The idea of a cartoon set in a world resembling the blocky look of old Atari games could be really cool. The series will hit G4 this spring.

William Shatner on Attack of the Show tonight
Our friends at G4's Attack of the Show dropped us a line to tell us that none other than William Shatner will be on the show tonight to talk Trek with host Kevin Pereira. Ostensibly, Shatner will be on to promote his voice-over role in the soon-to-be-released video game Star Trek: Legacy, but I'm pretty sure other topics will come up, like J.J. Abrams' new Trek movie, his current role as Denny Crane on Boston Legal, and the care and feeding of male hairpieces.Seriously, though, this interview is right up AotS's alley, considering original Trek
Coming this winter: American Idol karaoke game
Karoake Revolution is releasing an American Idol version of its game for PlayStation 2, complete with original American Idol tunes and judgements from Randy and Simon. Players can cover one of 40 songs, including Taylor Hicks' "Do I Make You Proud", Bo Bice's "The Real Thing", Ruben Studdard's "Flying Without Wings", and Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway". You can also channel William Hung, by singing "She Bangs". Once you've finished your song, Randy and Simon will have some remarks for you. Paula Abdul's not involved, but you can cover her '80s hit "Straight Up".This sounds like a game for the pre-teen set at slumber parties or their very first boy-girl parties. I can see it now: an 11-year-old girl's night is ruined when Simon tells her she's the worst singer ever.

Can a video game make Star Trek cool again?
William Shatner has faith that a new video game will give Star Trek a higher profile, after it has apparently fallen off the American radar. The game is called Star Trek: Legacy and, of course, he's voicing Capt. Kirk's character. The game will span all five of the franchise's television series, allowing players to fly 60 different space ships and encounter all sorts of aliens, including battling the Klingons and The Borg. Shatner hopes the game will hold over fans until 2008, when the next movie is due out.Star Trek: Legacy comes out in October.
Live in The O.C. ... virtually
Wear Chanel. Go to Harbor. Drive a Land Cruiser. Make an ass of yourself at a charity function. That's what they do in The O.C. and soon you can do it too, in a video game. Gameloft, the makers of Paris Hilton's Diamond Quest, is currently laboring over a game based on the FOX teen soap. It's a Sims-style game where you can wander around real O.C. locations and work on your tan or your muscles. Looks are apparently very important in the storyline of the game. You can choose to be any of the lead characters, Ryan, Marissa, Summer or Seth, or you can create your own character to shake things up in their McMansions. What I want to know is: Can you punch somebody or get high? It just wouldn't be The O.C. without a fight or someone overdosing on drugs.
More on the Family Guy video game
Hey, remember those upcoming Family Guy video games I
mentioned? Well, there's still no official release date set, but there is some information about what the game will be
exactly. 2K and High Voltage, the developers of the game, are calling it "interactive humor." You'll play
Peter, Stewie, and Brian, each with different objectives but with paths crossing throughout the video game. Your
adventures through Quahog will involve combat and puzzle-solving skills. In addition to the main characters, there will
also be cameo appearances by over two hundred of the show's extras, including the evil monkey. There does seem to be
some apprehension among gamers about the development team behind the new game, but I guess we'll wait and see. The screenshots look pretty cool, but that's not the best way to tell if
the game will be worth it or not.Bob Ross will live on in video game form
It makes perfect sense when you think about it. What is the one element missing
from video games these days? Yes, exactly, it's oil painting. Do you know how much more popular Tomb Raider would
have been if instead of Lara Croft you just spent the whole time painting mountains? Well, AGFRAG Entertainment is
taking video games to the next level with a new game based on the paintings of Bob Ross, the poofy-haired, avuncular
gentleman who lulled us all into contentment with his soothing voice and gentle instruction on the long-running PBS
series The Joy of Painting. The new game will utilize the new Nintendo Revolution controller, a remote
control-like controller which can be used just like a paintbrush. Gamers can also hear Ross' voice, as the developers
have the rights to the audio files from the series. Alas, the game has no publisher yet, but you can submit ideas for
the game to the developers here.

Desperate Housewives: The video game?
Call me crazy, but I think Disney may have its demographics
messed up. It is creating a computer video game based on Desperate Housewives. The player will take on the
role of a new housewife and uncover or create new scandals. Brenda Strong, who plays Mary Alice on the live-action
show, has already signed on with Disney to do a voice on the game. The other cast members are in negotiations.I think I'd create a nasty housewife who befriends Gabrielle and feeds her lots of food that she swears is fat free, so Gabrielle gains a bunch of weight and no one wants her. What kind of scandal would you create on DH?
Spike TV ponders Grand Theft Auto
Right now there are no real plans, but execs at Spike TV said recently that they may create a show
that would be, according to Variety, "a sort of live-action take on the video game Grand Theft
Auto." Whether this means the show would be based on Grand Theft Auto or just use similar elements from the video
game is unknown. In fact, pretty much everything about this is unknown since the idea is just that, an idea. Still, if
anyone were going to attempt this, it might as well be Spike TV, since a show based on the violent and graphic video
game I used to watch my roommate play for hours on end would be right at home on that network.TV Squad Hot Topics
