'Burn Notice' Adding New Villain to Cast
by Bob Sassone, posted Mar 18th 2010 4:02PM
If 'Burn Notice' keeps adding cast members at the rate it has been doing lately, the cast will be as large as the one on 'Lost.' First we reported that Coby Bell had been added to the cast in a regular role as a spy that comes in contact with Michael Westen and sticks around Miami, and now Michael Ausiello says that the show is also getting a new villain to go up against Michael (Westen, not Ausiello).Robert Wisdom is joining the cast as bad guy Vaughn, described as "a veteran spy handler" and "ruthless." If the name sounds familiar to you it's because Wisdom has had roles in 'The Wire,' 'Supernatural,' and 'Prison Break.'
Some people aren't happy when new cast members come on their favorite show, because it messes up the dynamic. But the core of 'Burn Notice' is still Michael, Sam, Fiona, and Madeline and I don't think new story arcs will affect that.
All My Children's James Mitchell passes away
by Allison Waldman, posted Jan 23rd 2010 10:09AM
One of the most famous stars of daytime, All My Children's James Mitchell, died Friday, January 22 in Los Angeles. He was 89 and suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, complicated by pneumonia. He hadn't been on the show much of the past couple of years, but he did make it back for the AMC 40th anniversary episode on January 5, and that turned out to be his last professional appearance.James Mitchell was a man with two great careers. To soap fans, he was the indomitable Palmer Cortlandt, a brilliant tycoon and businessman, but also a man obsessed with his family and not above manipulation to get his way.
True Blood: What the heck is Maryann?
by Jane Boursaw, posted Aug 2nd 2009 11:04PM
There's been quite a bit of discussion about what sort of creature Maryann is on True Blood. While some TV Squad readers speculated that she's a Circe -- or rather, THE Circe -- Michelle Forbes, who plays the character, set the record straight in a TV Guide interview in mid-July. She's a maenad, which, according to Wikipedia, were the female followers of Dionysus in Greek mythology. "Their name literally translates as 'raving ones.' Often the maenads were portrayed as inspired by him into a state of ecstatic frenzy, through a combination of dancing and drunken intoxication. In this state, they would lose all self-control, begin shouting excitedly, engage in uncontrolled sexual behavior, and ritualistically hunt down and tear animals (and sometimes men and children) to pieces, devouring the raw flesh."
Nine reasons why Ryan is a villain (or, how not to be the office d-bag)
by Jay Black, posted Oct 9th 2007 11:04AM
In my review of The Office last week, I called Ryan one of the best villains on TV today. I thought it was obvious that the producers were taking Ryan in this direction and that my comment was a compliment to the fine acting and writing on the show. I was met with a bit of resistance, however. Some of our readers felt that Ryan's ideas made a lot of sense and that, if anything, Michael's overall incompetence is the real villain on the show. I thought a post was in order to further explain why I thought Ryan was a villain. And what's the best way to explain a point? Well, considering the direction that the internet is moving, the answer is, of course, a numbered list! The nine reasons why Ryan is a villain after the jump.
