Four types of TV gals to avoid
by Bob Sassone, posted Oct 24th 2008 1:01PM
Judy McGuire writes a column titled "The Frisky," and in her latest she lists the four types of TV guys that women should avoid. She singles out Chuck Bass (Gossip Girl), Hank Moody (Californication), Vince Chase (Entourage), and Don Draper (Mad Men). So in the interest of equal time, I thought I'd list the four gals that male readers/TV viewers should avoid at all costs.
1. Angela Martin and Meredith Palmer (The Office). Angela has zero sense of humor and is completely controlling, with a weird jealousy streak that lies underneath the surface. Plus she's really strict, and not in the good way.
Meredith is a complete mess on so many levels.
Jeffrey Tambor is the latest star to hit up Entourage
by Kona Gallagher, posted Jul 9th 2008 11:02AM
Jeffrey Tambor, aka Arrested Development's beloved George Bluth, is the latest star to sign up for a guest stint on the HBO comedy Entourage. Tambor joins Sopranos star Jaime-Lynn Sigler and Gossip Girl's Leighton Meester on the guest star roster for Entourage's fifth season, premiering in September.
While both Sigler and Meester are set to play possible love interests for everyone's favorite semi-successful actor Vince Chase (Adrian Grenier), Tambor will be throwing a wrench into their plans for love when Vince suddenly discovers his propensity for older bald dudes. Okay, that's not true at all. Fact is, there's no word on what role Tambor will be playing, or if he'll be playing himself. Regardless, it's Jeffrey Tambor, so it will be awesome.
Since producers probably won't use my love interest idea (although I am totally copyrighting that right now, just in case) what are your opinions on Tambor's role? Should he be a studio exec? Mentor? Rival for Jaime-Lynn Sigler's affection? Post your thoughts in the comments below.
Entourage - a documentary?
by Bob Sassone, posted Jun 12th 2006 10:13AM
That's the angle of this Los Angeles Times piece, which says that many in the industry look at the weekly adventures of Vince and his gang not as comedy and drama but as a documentary, getting at the many truths of living and working in Hollywood, whether you're an actor, writer, producer, agent, wannabe or has been. The article also notes how many of the "inside Hollywood" shows, like The Comeback and Unscripted, are no longer around. Insider-ish shows about Hollywood aren't easy to do, and the general public doesn't always want to watch. But Entourage is a hit. Also some interesting to see how Doug Ellin came up with the show and how he got it made.
