A big point in Cherry's defense against Sheridan's unlawful termination claim is that he decided in June 2008 that her character would get killed off, but staff writer Kirkland Baker said she didn't know Edie would be killed off until at least September. George Lopez Disses Shaq, Ving Rhames Threatens Him with Chainsaw (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Aug 5th 2010 9:10AM
Despite rumors that Shaquille O'Neal would return to the Los Angeles Lakers, the NBA pro has jumped to the Boston Celtics. This has upset George Lopez. "As a lifelong Lakers fan, I say to you, "Shaq, you're dead to me," he said on 'Lopez Tonight' (weeknights, 11PM ET on TBS).After the host finished his stand-up monologue, Ving Rhames charged the stage with a running chainsaw. Rhames threatened Lopez for talking about "my main man Shaq ... Shaq never snitched on anybody," he said.
They made their peace (i.e., he turned off the chainsaw), and Lopez asked Rhames how he got the name "Ving." Guess which also-famous fellow classmate at Juilliard is responsible?

Casting news: Shannon in NBC comedy, Rhames in Football Wives
by Joel Keller, posted Feb 22nd 2007 2:39PM
TV viewers -- or anyone for that matter -- haven't heard from Molly Shannon in a while. Though her IMDb profile has shown that she's been busy, the last time I saw her in anything was in a memorable guest role on Scrubs three years ago. Her absence was kind of surprising, given how funny she was on Saturday Night Live. But it looks like Shannon is on her way back, in an NBC comedy pilot called The Mastersons of Manhattan. The Hollywood Reporter, in an article that contains a ton of casting news, reports that Shannon will star with Natasha Richardson in the serialized soap. The two play socialite sisters, the younger of whom (Shannon) is on trial for murder. Yes, I did say earlier that it was a comedy, if you want to check.
Ving Rhames joins cast of Aquaman
by Anna Johns, posted Feb 21st 2006 8:01AM
Heavy hitter Ving Rhames has signed
on for a co-starring role in the untitled Aquaman drama that The CW has in the works. Rhames will play McCaffery, a
mentor to A.C., aka Aquaman. The series is a spin-off of Smallville. Originally, American Idol drop-out Alan Ritchson played A.C. on one episode of Smallville, but the new series has actor/model Will Toale in the lead role. The same team that developed Smallville is creating Aquaman. Hopefully this means we'll see it on the air as soon as this fall.
Chazz Palminteri lands lead on ABC
by Anna Johns, posted Feb 15th 2006 10:32AM
Chazz Palminteri, perhaps best-known for his role in The
Usual Suspects, is coming to series television. He just signed on to co-star in a new cop series on ABC, called
Drift. It's about a detective with insomnia. Palminteri plays the guy's boss. According to his IMDB
profile, Palminteri just finished shooting three different movies, all set for release later this year. And he was
seen alongside Ving Rhames on TNT last year in an modern-day version of Kojak.Kojak is such a mothersucker
by Adam Finley, posted Jan 4th 2006 9:08AM
Recently the Advertising Standard Authority in the UK forced the removal of some outdoor ads for USA's
Kojak series starring Ving Rhames in the title role. It seems that the word "Mothersucker," complete
with a lollipop in place of the "O," caused a few people to register complaints. I guess the word is a little
too close to another particular word. I suppose that's true, I'm just wondering what the actual meaning of
"Mothersucker" is. Is it the mother of all suckers? Like, the center of the sucker universe from which all
other suckers are born? Is Kojak a TV show about a man on a quest to find this holy lollipop? Because that's a
great idea for a show, and perhaps they should change the plot to make it about that.
