Baldwin and Sheen: Inglorious Bastards
by Stephanie Earp, posted Oct 13th 2009 5:01PM

'Working Girl', one of my favourite '80s movies, was on TV the other day, and I sat down to watch Melanie Griffith battle her way to the top of the Manhattan corporate ladder for the umpteenth time. I was mildly and pleasantly surprised when Alec Baldwin turned up on screen - but not just Alec Baldwin - young, gorgeous, whole-future-ahead-of-him Alec Baldwin. Dear Lord, that man attractive when he was younger. I was too young to think about it at the time - I was 11 when 'Working Girl' came out. I only had eyes for My Little Ponys. So I end up drooling over what a man used to look like knowing full well he has aged into something else entirely (see also William Petersen.)
Does anybody really care about this Alec Baldwin thing?

Alec Baldwin apologizes to the public and to his daughter on The View today for poor parenting. As Bob mentioned, he also tells the audience that he has asked to be released from his 30 Rock contract because he does not want to bring bad press to the show. (NBC has thankfully rejected that request)He has been making headlines all week after a really nasty voicemail message he left for his daughter was somehow leaked to the entertainment media-types. Baldwin is currently in a bitter custody battle over his 12-year old daughter, Ireland, with his ex-wife, Kim Basinger. Baldwin blames Basinger for leaking the audio, she denies it. She also released a statement saying that she hopes Baldwin gets control of his anger.
I wonder... is Alec's career really as damaged as he seems to think it is? Are people going to stop watching 30 Rock or suddenly dislike his 30 Rock character because he left a mean voicemail for his daughter? Am I the only one who thinks he's overreacting by attempting to resign from the show?
Call Dwight Schrute's office voicemail

Season 2 of The Office went on sale at Best Buy yesterday (the website is already sold out). The DVD set is called The Office: Severance Package and it includes some Dunder-Mifflin schwag, including Post-It notes, notepad, pen and magnet, and a calendar. There's also a phone number to Dwight Schrute's voicemail. The message on the voicemail, unfortunately, is not Dwight, but his fictional assistant (which makes the guy the Assistant to the Assistant to the Regional Manager). He explains that Dwight is at a LOTR convention and talks some lingo and then pitches the "oh-so-scorching" and "crazy" deals on paper. It's only marginally entertaining, but here's the number anyway: 1-800-984-DMPC (3672).Supposedly the Season 2 DVD is great- with bloopers and all sorts of behind-the-scenes extras. I'm kicking myself for not remembering to pick one up yesterday.
