Andy Cohen Hedges on His 'No New Housewives' Edict: 'Never Say Never'

by Joel Keller, posted Apr 7th 2011 11:00AM

Because Andy Cohen is not only a "Bravo-lebrity" -- he's host of the loosey-goosey talk show 'Watch What Happens Live' -- but he's also the network's executive vice president of original programming, it's hard to pin him down on certain issues.

For instance, when asked about his assertion last month that 'The Real Housewives' series won't be expanding into new cities, he backtracks a little bit. "Um, I mean, you know, look, I mean, look, never say never, but I think we're really good right now," he told me earlier this week. He also won't mention the fate of 'The Real Housewives of DC:' "You know what, we have not made any announcements and we haven't really gotten into it." (Update: 'The Real Housewives of DC' was officially canceled on April 7.)

One thing is certain, though: if the show is pushing into Toronto, as was reported last week, it won't be produced by Bravo: "You know what, I don't know if that's a license deal. I don't know what that is. But that was the first I had heard of it too."

On Thursday, April 7 at 11PM ET, Cohen celebrated the 100th episode of 'WWHL,' and he's enjoying every minute of his side gig. "I love it that right now it's kind of somewhere between 'Wayne's World' and a Fellini movie," Cohen said.

'Watch What Happens Live': Adriana Curses at Cristy on Live Television (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Apr 6th 2011 12:48AM
Adriana DeMoura-Sidi, 'Watch What Happens Live'Adriana DeMoura-Sidi and Cristy Rice of 'The Real Housewives of Miami' really don't like one another. Another thing they don't like is to allow each other to speak. Or maybe they just don't like to stop talking as we saw and more than heard on 'Watch What Happens Live' (Tue., 9PM ET on Bravo).

Sidi started laying into Rice, though to be honest it was almost impossible to discern what either one of them were saying. One thing we do know for sure is that they seem to be able to hear and talk at the same time, as they were responding to one another's insults even while talking over them.

In its own disturbing way, it was kind of impressive. Unfortunately, the more heated things got the more Sidi seemed to either forget or not care that this was live television. She said things we can't even type here.

Kyle Richards Might Not Return to 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,' 'The Killing' Posts Respectable Debut Ratings and More

by Jean Bentley, posted Apr 4th 2011 5:45PM
Kyle RichardsWould you watch a Kyle Richards–less 'Real Housewives of Beverly Hills'?

The Bravo show has been renewed for a second season, but the cast contracts aren't finalized. While past speculation has focused on Camille Grammer as the housewife most likely to pass on season 2, Richards told E! Online this weekend that she wasn't sure if she'd definitely return to the show.

"We're not really sure who's coming back yet, so we'll see," she told E!. "Right now we're deciding. It's a family decision between my husband, my kids and I, and we have a little time to decide and I'm kind of deciding what I want to do."

Bravo usually doesn't comment on cast decisions until right before the seasons premiere.

In other TV news ...

AMC's highly praised 'The Killing' and Reelz Channel's much-maligned 'The Kennedys' both performed well for their respective networks this weekend. 'The Borgias' also drew a record 1.5 million viewers for Showtime. 'The Killing' saw an audience of 4.7 million in two showings last night, while a record 1.9 million viewers tuned in for the first part of the 'Kennedys' miniseries. That's not saying too much, though, since we doubt many people even knew they had the channel before ... [Entertainment Weekly]

Get ready for more Andy Cohen. The Bravo honcho's 'Watch What Happens Live' was just renewed for a fifth season. The 100th episode of the late-night talk show will air after the 'Real Housewives of New York City' premiere on Thursday night. [TV Guide]

At Oxygen's upfront presentation today, the network announced three new series, as well as the premiere dates for its 'Glee' and Paris Hilton reality shows. 'The Glee Project' will bow June 12 and 'The World According to Paris' will debut June 1. As for the new shows, 'Maids of Drama' chronicles the adventures of bridesmaids, 'Lost Angels' follows Olivia Newton John's daughter Chloe Lattanzi, and 'My Post-Grad Life' is about two women trying to find careers in Philadelphia and Boston. Andy Cohen and Friends Ring in the New Year on a 'Watch What Happens Live' Special (VIDEO)

by Jason Hughes, posted Jan 3rd 2011 12:12AM
'Watch What Happens Live: Andy's New Year's Party'Bravo rang in their own new year's celebration with a special edition of 'What What Happens Live: Andy's New Year's Party' (Fri., 10:30PM on BRAVO). It didn't have the lavish production of ABC and NBC, or even the likes of CNN and MTV, but it did feature Andy Cohen dancing it up, and getting that requisite kiss at the dawning of the new year.

They even had a ball, of sorts, to drop at the precipitous moment. Hanging from strings, the feathered object looked like something a Mardi Gras parade float might throw up, but it was somehow quaint and charming at the same time. It even had to be turned as it kept spinning so the "2011" on top was reading backwards.

If the budget didn't allow for much more than a ball on a wire, we weren't likely to see any A-list musical acts either.

White House Gate Crashers Feel Vindicated By D.C. 'Housewives' Finale (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Oct 8th 2010 7:45AM
Salahis Talk 'Housewives' Finale on 'Watch What Happens: Live'On 'Watch What Happens: Live' (Thu., 10:15PM ET on BRAVO), host Andy Cohen discussed the finale of 'The Real Housewives of D.C.' with stars Michaele and Tareq Salahi. They were pleased with the episode's portrayal of their now-infamous appearance at a White House State Dinner, saying it proved they weren't gate crashers.

"You think tonight's episode cleared you?" Cohen asked skeptically. Tareq answered, "The world's been waiting for this: You saw that we didn't lie, we didn't scale a fence ... We showed our real IDs; we said our real names."

Cohen admitted that though they were never charged of any wrongdoing, "I didn't see from tonight's episode the smoking gun that you're talking about." Tareq's further proof of their innocence was that the Secret Service was shown helping the 'Real Housewives' film crew.

Tina Fey Plays "Would You Rather" Game on 'Watch What Happens Live' (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted Oct 1st 2010 9:30AM
Tina Fey Plays Would You Rather on 'Watch What Happens Live'Tina Fey took a game of "Would You Rather" quite seriously on 'Watch What Happens Live' (Thu., 10PM ET on BRVO), occasionally asking host Andy Cohen for more detail before giving her answer.

Included in the rapid-fire Q&A were these gems:
• Would you rather wax Alec Baldwin's back or front? "Top to bottom?" inquired Fey before responding.
• Would you rather do your Sarah Palin impersonation in front of a Tea Party crowd, or sing the National Anthem at the World Series?
• Would you rather spoon Glenn Beck for an evening or take a 10-minute bubble bath with Bill O'Reilly? "Would I be the outer spoon or the inner spoon?" Fey wondered.

Check the video to hear her responses -- and why she nearly took her top off.

Rachel Dratch Impersonates 'Housewives' and Bethenny Frankel Swears (VIDEO)

by Bob Sassone, posted Jul 27th 2010 4:09PM
Rachel DratchHow hard is it to not swear? Think about it: if you wanted to not swear, you could probably do it, unless you're drunk. Last night on 'Watch What Happens: Live' (Mondays at midnight on Bravo), 'Real Housewives of New York City' star Bethenny Frankel said s**t twice and had to be mildly scolded by host Andy Cohen.

She was playing a game with Rachel Dratch where Dratch impersonated a cast member from the various 'Real Housewives' shows and Frankel had to guess which one. Dratch is great but she seems to know way too much about the 'Real Housewives' franchise.

TV's Six Most Annoying Talk Show Hosts

by Allison Waldman, posted Jul 1st 2010 12:00PM
larry_king_cnn_deskTwo recent news items got us thinking about TV's most annoying talk show hosts. First, Larry King announced his exit from 'Larry King Live' this fall, although he will continue doing specials. Second, Showtime is reportedly interested in Stephen A. Smith. They want the basketball reporter and New York radio jock-talker to host a late night talk show.

Smith, who has already failed with a chat show on ESPN, is not a good candidate as a host because he's a grating personality. So are these people who we think about the six most annoying talk show hosts. Here's who made the list and the why ...

Jerry Seinfeld Talks Donald Trump's Hair at 'SatC 2' Premiere (VIDEO)

by Aimee Deeken, posted May 28th 2010 5:10AM
Seinfeld, Andy Cohen Talk Donald Trump's HairOn 'Watch What Happens Live' (Thu., 11PM ET on BRAVO), host Andy Cohen and guest Jerry Seinfeld discussed the big 'Sex and the City 2' premiere in New York City Monday night. Both attended the event at Radio City Music Hall -- along with a plethora of other celebrities.

But what really caught Cohen's attention (aside from the film, of course) was Donald Trump's infamous coif. "The evening was sensational," said Cohen. "I really got to obsess over everything, including the ropes and pulleys that go into the cotton-candy confection that is my friend Donald Trump's hair -- which I am obsessed with."

"You know what I love about his hair?" began Seinfeld, before launching into a Seinfeldian riff.

Andy Cohen on Jersey Housewives, 'Top Chef,' and Being the Face of Bravo

by Joel Keller, posted Mar 18th 2010 2:02PM
Andy Cohen of BravoWhen NBC Universal had their all-star party at the January press tour, I got a chance to talk to Andy Cohen of Bravo. Who's Andy Cohen? Many of you who follow Bravo's reality shows may know him as "the reunion guy," who hosts all the reunion shows at the end of each season. Others may know him from the talk show 'Watch What Happens Live,' which debuted last summer and discusses the week in the world of Bravo and beyond.

But Cohen has a day job: as the network's senior vice president of original programming and development, he's largely been responsible for bringing shows like 'Top Chef,' 'Project Runway,' 'Flipping Out,' 'The Real Housewives' series and others to the network. So he's the perfect guy to talk to about the mishegas going on with the Jersey Housewives as they shoot their second season, fluky edits on the finale of 'Top Chef,' and whatever he could say about the Salahis, who crashed a White House dinner while being recruited for 'The Real Housewives of D.C.' Our talk is after the jump.
