Regina King joins cast of 24

by Jonathan Toomey, posted Jul 18th 2006 10:29AM

Regina KingI've read about this on a couple of different sites now, so I think it's legit. Regina King has been cast in season six of 24 as Angela Palmer, the sister of Wayne Palmer and the late President David Palmer.

Angela, a powerful lawyer, has no doubt been added to fill the role of "crazy black female" left vacant by the likes of Sherry Palmer and Julia Milliken.

Alright, I kid, but I'm sure she'll find some way to get involved in Jack's plans since he won't be battling it out in China.

Regardless, I'm pleased with the add. She was fantastic in Ray. However, what really has me excited is far more spoiler-ish. It's after the jump if you care to read on.

24 - Jack Bauer(S05E22) If Jack Bauer asking questions like "What are you talking about?" landed a dollar in my pocket every time they were exclaimed, then I'd be a very rich man right now. With last week's episode closing shortly after Miles destroys the digital recording Chloe was working on for presentation to the Attorney General, it wasn't going to be a good week for Jack and the crew. Then again, when is it a good time for everyone.

Christopher Henderson "working" for the good guys, in a screwed up kind of way, pretty much turned this show completely on its head, but it appears that he is just as desperate as he is cunning, when it comes to surviving to breathe for another day. President Logan continues to play his cards with his "handlers," or whatever those dastardly masterminds should be called at this point, but he thinks he's still got the Homeland / CTU office in his court somewhat, which he most certainly doesn't. He also thinks that he's going to get rid of Aaron Pierce very quickly, but that wasn't to be.

Audrey RainesWhy even bother stating that the suspense is a killer when it comes to 24 anymore - a stack of seasons in and I still haven't learned. With Wayne Palmer being chased by professional hitters, probably coming after him on the advice of the Vice President and Jack finding out that his next-to-latest love interest might just be involved with the baddies, it's pretty clear that there will be no deep breath episodes, most likely the rest of the way through.

With captured superspy hottie Collette having ratted out Audrey at the close of last week's episode, we knew that Jack would probably flip the you-know-what out and probably take a first crack in the interrogationg room, even if he had been sharing a bed with her just 18 months earlier. Additionally, Buchanan seems to have done a bang-up job getting the folks from Homeland Security to hold off on taking over at CTU for a little while longer (save the reality jokes for the comments, people!), and Chloe is handling Edgar's demise quite well, thankyouverymuch. Too bad it's just too easy to think things will stay sane.
