Lisa Kudrow Returns to Primetime Comedy at Showtime
by Kim Potts, posted Apr 22nd 2010 9:15AM
Courteney Cox is whooping it up in 'Cougar Town,' Matthew Perry is shooting a pilot that may find him joining her at ABC, Matt LeBlanc is returning to the tube at Showtime, and now, Lisa Kudrow is joining her 'Friends' in a return to primetime comedy.Showtime has reportedly picked up Kudrow's online series 'Web Therapy,' in which she plays Fiona Wallice, a therapist who gives her patients advice via a Webcam. The dark comedy revolves around the very self-interested Fiona, who thinks three minutes of Web therapy is better than 50 minutes of in-person therapy, since, to her way of thinking, regular sessions mostly consist of patients going off on irrelevant tangents.
Fiona hopes her online sessions can spark a worldwide revolution in how people seek psychiatric care, and her motives to build her brand are usually evident in her interactions with her patients.
Lisa Kudrow Talks 'Cougar Town,' Botox and 'Web Therapy'
by Michael D. Ayers, posted Jan 6th 2010 9:00AM
Best known as ditzy blonde Phoebe Buffay on seminal sitcom 'Friends,' Lisa Kudrow has continued her post-'Friends' career not only in popular films ('P.S. I Love You,' 'Powder Blue') but also taking on production and development roles, first with the short-lived HBO show 'The Comeback' and now with an online series called 'Web Therapy.' Kudrow pulled in her old friend Courteney Cox for a guest spot on 'Web Therapy' and now she's returning the favor by appearing on 'Cougar Town' this week. Kudrow plays Dr. Amy Evans, a dermatologist who gives Jules Cobb a hard time about her decision to try and look younger.
Inside TV talked to Kudrow about 'Web Therapy,' producing shows and working with her 'Friend' again.
Another Friends reunion ... sort of
by Brad Trechak, posted Jun 23rd 2009 1:02PM
The media never turns down a chance to advertise a "reunion" of the cast of NBC's Friends, even when it's only two cast members appearing in the same show. Courtney Cox will be guest-starring on Web Therapy, an online-only show produced by L Studio starring Lisa Kudrow.I recall when Jennifer Aniston guest-starred on the two-seasoned FX series Dirt which starred Courteney Cox. That was subliminally billed as a Friends reunion as well.
One could argue that this is a cheap marketing ploy, and that person would be correct. It could be one that works, though. I haven't watched Web Therapy, but the premise seems interesting and it's certainly the sort of role Lisa Kudrow could pull off.
