'Saturday Night Live' - 'Tina Fey/Justin Bieber' Recap
by Annie Wu, posted Apr 11th 2010 3:49PM

(S35E18) Tina Fey gives hope to all nerdy funny girls out there. You may be frumpy and strange now, girls, but all you have to do is work really hard, be yourself, create/write/star in a hit show with Alec Baldwin and become super-famous. Then you will finally be able to soothe the flame of self-hate this is currently raging within you. This is the only option to escape your ugly duckling phase. Sorry if you were convinced otherwise.
All right, seriously, this was a solid episode. It felt like Fey had a strong hand in what kind of material was being produced; most of the sketches worked very well for her. This was also the first time I had heard Justin Bieber. And that's all I'm going to say about that.

Tina Fey returned to 'Saturday Night Live' last night and had plenty to say about brownie husbands, Tiger Woods, and the Oscar curse, among other things. And apparently, she also has a thing for Justin Bieber, the musical guest this week! Somehow, the pairing of these two seems like the perfect combination.

by Jane Boursaw, posted Mar 7th 2010 11:19AM
Zach Galifianakis is super hot right now, and he supplied some comedy relief as host of 'Saturday Night Live' this week. He's ridiculously funny, just by showing up. In fact, some of his funniest bits on the show involved hanging out in the background of various TV shows like 'Law & Order,' '30 Rock,' and 'The Dr. Oz Show.' The kissing family also made an appearance (at a funeral, no less), and one of our favorite talk shows, 'What Up With That?,' was back with actor Paul Rudd, as well as the always ignored Lindsey Buckingham.

As usual, the music at the beginning and end of the podcast is "Life" by Justin Trawick. Note that we recorded the podcast on Monday, and my pick of the week -- Jay Thomas on Letterman -- has already aired. Huh. I figured they'd wait until at least Christmas Eve for that one.
NBC pulls SNL sketch about Brittany Murphy
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 21st 2009 10:02AM
So by now you've heard the news about the death of Brittany Murphy yesterday. In a case of odd timing, Saturday Night Live actually had a sketch just two weeks ago that made fun of Murphy's persona. Now, to be honest, I didn't really know Murphy outside of the movies she was in (such as 8 Mile), so this doesn't make any real impact on me. It shows Murphy as a bit off, a bit dazed. But again, I'm not even sure if I ever saw Murphy in an interview situation. NBC has pulled the video from the web because of Murphy's death.
However, Mediaite has video of the sketch. They also have video of an appearance Murphy made earlier this year on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Judge for yourself if it's accurate or not.
David Spade Takes A (Hollywood) Minute to Defend Tiger Woods
by Michael Maloney, posted Dec 4th 2009 4:00PM
Celebs and the media spotlight that shine on them were skewered regularly by funnyman David Spade in 'Hollywood Minute,' a segment within 'Saturday Night Live's' Weekend Update back in the '90s.Does Spade miss spoofing the whole celebrity machine? "I do," he told AOL during a recent set visit to Spade's sitcom 'Rules of Engagement,' which will return for its fourth season on CBS at midseason.
So what would Spade say on 'Hollywood Minute' about the whole Tiger Woods brouhaha? "I'd say, 'I saw the new US Weekly magazine poll and I think they were too tough on him," Spade deadpans. "It said, 'Should Tiger Go To Heaven?' 91 percent say no.'"

NBC execs don't seem to know much about NBC - TCA Report
by Joel Keller, posted Aug 5th 2009 2:21PM
We just got done with the NBC executive session, where primetime entertainment head Angela Bromstad and alternative programming (read: reality) chief Paul Telegdy took the reporters questions. Of course, many of the questions had to do with The Jay Leno Show and Ben Silverman's departure. What the gathered reporters got out of the two executives was evasiveness, referrals to other executives, and a general sense that the two of them either don't know or don't want to provide answers about their own network.
When the question of Leno and CBS's Nina Tassler's assertion that NBC would declare victory no matter what numbers they got, Bromstad tried to pass us to the session for Leno's show later in the day. Telegdy did the same. But we wouldn't let them off the hook. An example exchange, for instance, went like this:
