What You Missed Last Night: Kimmel on Leno's Oprah interview
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 29th 2010 11:29AM
Joel told you about Jay Leno's appearance on Oprah yesterday. Last night, Jimmy Kimmel explained exactly what happened when he went on The Jay Leno Show and joked about Leno.
After the jump, Kimmel shows all the best parts of Leno's interview, with help from REM.

What You Missed Last Night: Democrats are just like Kevin on The Wonder Years
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 28th 2010 11:29AM
Ah, The Wonder Years. Kevin's older brother used to tease and bully him all the time. Last night on The Daily Show, Jon Stewart used a clip from the show to illustrate what Republicans are supposedly doing to Democrats right now on healthcare, tax cuts, and many other issues.
He also makes a football analogy that no one in the audience gets.

What You Missed Last Night: Stephen Colbert wants Apple's tablet
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 27th 2010 10:30AM
In case you haven't heard, Apple is probably going to release some sort of tablet/pad today that is GOING TO CHANGE THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT. Actually, I'm pretty excited about it myself. So is Stephen Colbert. In this clip from last night, he talks about a new iPhone app and pleads for the new device too.

What You Missed Last Night: the first promo for Leno's return to The Tonight Show
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 20th 2010 8:01AM
OK, so it's from David Letterman, but still, it's a promo! Letterman ran this last night.
What I love about it is not only how they point out what Leno took from other shows for The Tonight Show, but they got ex-Tonight Show announcer Edd Hall to do the voiceover!

What You Missed Last Night: Kimmel takes apart Leno on Leno's own show
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 15th 2010 9:01AM
This was very satisfying to watch. Jimmy Kimmel appeared on The Jay Leno Show last night to do the "10@10" segment, just a couple of days after impersonating Leno on an entire Jimmy Kimmel Live episode. Did Kimmel pull any punches? No way. In fact, some of his barbs were really cutting, and if I can read people, he wasn't really kidding and Leno wasn't happy.
What You Missed Last Night: The Daily Show predicts the future!
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 14th 2010 1:00PM
Every day on the morning shows, daytime shows, and cable shows, we see various "experts" and "trendspotters" who tell us what fashion, food, toy, and/or tech product is going to be the next big thing. Often these are ridiculous predictions, as The Daily Show pointed out last night.
I'd write more, but my flowers are boiling over.

What You Missed Last Night: a Jay Leno Show sketch that's actually kinda funny
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 8th 2010 12:45PM
Yes, Jay Leno talked about the whole NBC mess during his monologue last night, but this is something else. Leno showed a clip from what happened to one of the Jay Leno Show staff members during Christmas. You'll probably see the punchline coming a mile away, but it's still sort of amusing.

What You Missed Last Night: Triumph goes to a dog spa
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 6th 2010 11:00AM
Whether you love Conan's Tonight Show or hate it, you have to admit there aren't many "must see" segments on the show. Most of them are the segments where Conan or someone else goes on location somewhere. Like last night, when Triumph The Insult Comic Dog visited a spa that caters to dogs.

What You Missed Last Night: Colbert gets a new set and an HD upgrade
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 5th 2010 1:15PM
It's a new year, and that means new beginnings for all of us, including The Colbert Report, which got a new set and a new HD look. Last night he said goodbye to the old set and hello to his new one. In these clips you can't see the two objects he has off to the side on his desk.

What You Missed Last Night: It's 1984 on The Cleveland Show
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 4th 2010 11:01AM
I don't laugh much at The Cleveland Show, but I laughed at this from last night's episode. It opened with a flashback to 1984, and the show riffed on shows and movies that do everything they can do make us understand what year it is, from having songs from that year on the soundtrack, references to things in the news, and the clothes that the characters are wearing. I ain't 'fraid of no ghost!

What You Missed Last Night: Kathy Griffin swears (again) on CNN
by Bob Sassone, posted Jan 1st 2010 1:00PM
This was probably expected, but last night Kathy Griffin said the F-word while co-hosting New Year's Eve coverage on CNN with Anderson Cooper. Here's the video. I guess you can't have a time delay in a show that has a live countdown to New Year's Eve.
What You Missed Last Night (and two weeks ago): Phantom of the Oprah
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 30th 2009 1:03PM
The late night shows are in repeats this week. Last night Jimmy Kimmel showed an episode from a couple of weeks ago (a practice that I hate) with a segment that I thought was worth posting: The Phantom of the Oprah.
It's pretty funny, even if the "Phantom of the Oprah" joke was made on Wings about 15 years ago. [Watch clips and episodes of Jimmy Kimmel Live and other shows at SlashControl.]

What You Missed Last Night: Jimmy, Martha, and the Croquembouche
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 22nd 2009 3:04PM
No, that's not something dirty, it's a holiday dish that Martha Stewart cooked last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. You might know it as "that cookie thing that's shaped like a tree and has sticky stuff on it."

What You Missed Last Night: Jimmy Fallon teaches you how to wrap gifts (in 1984)
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 17th 2009 5:02PM
So it's Christmas and you don't know how to wrap that special something that you bought for your special someone. Last night Jimmy Fallon pulled out an old videotape that a production company made in the '80s that show you how to wrap Christmas gifts (tip: don't give anyone anything that's round). I'm not sure if it's realistic that Fallon could have hosted a talk show 25 years ago, but the production recreation is well done.

What You Missed Last Night: John Hodgman's "You're Welcome"
by Bob Sassone, posted Dec 16th 2009 2:31PM
One of my favorite moments on television is when The Daily Show host Jon Stewart introduces John Hodgman. You know it's going to be funny and smart. In his "You're Welcome" segment last night, he attempted to solve the problem of the rising national debt.
