EXCLUSIVE 'What Not to Wear' Preview: Meet Tron's Hooker (VIDEO)
by Maggie Furlong, posted Nov 29th 2011 1:00PM
As much as 'What Not to Wear' makes me cringe sometimes, hosts and makeover gurus Stacy London and Clinton Kelly are always there to lighten the mood with pure, unadulterated snark. Like saying someone's outfit is better suited for a hooker from 'Tron.'They're not trying to hurt anyone's feelings, of course, but sometimes the ugly truth is the only way to get through to people. This is one of those times.
They've got some brand new episodes (premiering Tues., Nov. 29, 9PM ET on TLC) and their first client back is a tough nut to crack. And by nut, I'm implying that she's a little crazy ... but delightfully so. Maybe it's a work side effect?
We've got an exclusive introduction to Jodi, a 50-year-old belly-dancing psych ward nurse. Yep, you read that right, and her wardrobe is just as confused. Here, Clinton and Stacy try to show her the light about why this reflective, futuristic ensemble -- which she describes as her "edgy, hip-hop, downtown nightclub look" -- should be a thing of the past.
A Look Back at the Most Emotional Makeovers on 'What Not to Wear' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 24th 2011 4:42AM
Stacy London and Clinton Kelly took a break from making over women to look back at some of their more dramatic, and emotional, transformations on 'What Not to Wear: Top 10 Meltdowns' (Tue., 10PM ET on TLC).It all culminated in Erin, who was a shy and withdrawn woman who had no self-esteem whatsoever. When Ted Gibson asked her why she'd grown her hair out so long, it had nothing to do with liking it, but rather a desire to hide her chest. She could barely stand to look at herself in the mirror.
"You're gonna have to be able to see the beauty that is within you, or else everything that we teach you to do is going to be worthless," Kelly told her.
Jenny McCarthy and Cheryl Burke Put Their Assistant on 'What Not to Wear' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Aug 17th 2011 9:00AM
Cheryl Burke and Jenny McCarthy share an assistant. And as we learned on 'What Not to Wear' (Tue., 9PM ET on TLC), they also share a frustration with her fashion choices. Meet 37-year old Chicago native Becky.Tricked into getting the makeover on the show, Becky proves game for the transformation, and the results speak for themselves. She looked fabulous in a shapely dress and absolutely floored her friends and supporters.
"The clothes were one thing," McCarthy said. "But the confidence that you saw come through just made me so happy."
McCarthy had already admitted that she thought of Becky as family, so it must have been so warm to see someone so close to you get a new and more positive outlook on life. Sometimes a physical makeover can transform your self-perception as well.
'Love in the Wild': 2x the Reality, 2x the Fun
by Stephanie Earp, posted Jul 4th 2011 2:30PM
I've never really followed an entire season of reality dating show, except for Meredith's turn on 'The Bachelorette', mainly because I was pretty sure she was doing it as a joke.So color me surprised to find I actually enjoyed the debut of 'Love in the Wild' last week and have mentally penciled episode two into my calendar this Wednesday (9PM ET/PT, CTV/NBC). The show definitely hearkens back to the era of 'Paradise Hotel' or 'Temptation Island' but manages to feel like a fresher take on the pretty-people-in-a-hot-tub genre. Basically, it's a blatant attempt to mix 'Survivor' with 'The Bachelor'. The result includes some of the best and worst elements of both of those shows.

'What Not to Wear': Stacy London Reveals Body Scars (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Jan 5th 2011 8:45AM
Since age 16, Erin has had five reconstructive surgeries on her breasts, leading her to struggle with self-esteem issues and hide under baggy clothes. The most recent operation involved "scar revision" to minimize significant scarring from past surgeries, she shared on 'What Not to Wear' (Tue., 9PM ET on TLC)."It really is something when you can think about what you've gone through and be proud of the fact that you made it through to the other side," Stacy told her. Erin was moved by the host's vulnerability and asked, "Can I hug you?" "Yeah!" exclaimed the host.
'What Not to Wear' Candidate Finds Makeup Riskier Than Rock Climbing (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Dec 29th 2010 5:15AM
Lizzie genuinely feels that putting on makeup is "a bigger risk for me than rock climbing ... I don't know why." We don't either. When the 'What Not to Wear' (Tue., 9PM ET on TLC) team gives her a makeover, she has no need to feel "uncomfortable."Lizzie eventually agrees. In a workplace ensemble, "I felt like I looked smarter and more confident and more able to be taken seriously," she explains. "When I had that weekend look on, it just looked so funky and so me ... It did jump to 'sexy' -- for a little while."
Both Clinton Kelly and the Subject Storm Off the Set of 'What Not to Wear' (VIDEO)
by Jason Hughes, posted Dec 22nd 2010 5:38AM
One would think that when you choose to participate in a reality show, you might have some idea what you're in for. And yet, when the latest "target" of Clinton Kelly and Stacy London's 'What Not to Wear' (Tue. 9PM on TLC) was faced with criticism of her current wardrobe choices, she didn't handle it very well at all.It can't be easy to have one of your dresses equated to what a stripper might wear, even if Kelly did try to preface with the caveat that "this isn't about you."
But the girl handled her distress by lashing out. "I wasn't even listening," she said. "Sorry, I tuned you out." It was as if she'd not expected that the pair might say something derogatory about her clothes. You know, like they do every single episode.
A Marriage Proposal on 'What Not to Wear' (VIDEO)
by Oliver Miller, posted Nov 29th 2010 1:33AM
Always a bridesmaid, never a bride -- until now. On 'What Not to Wear' (Fri., 9PM ET on TLC), style experts Stacy London and Clinton Kelly encounter the intriguing fashion case of Hillary, owner of a floral boutique. Hillary has lost forty pounds since opening her flower store, but hasn't updated her sweatshirt-based wardrobe to match her slimmed-down body. "I wear lots of belts to, like, try and keep my pants and stuff up," she admits. "Which is kind of ghetto." Hillary also admits that she doesn't spend a lot of effort on "this part" (meaning herself). In the meantime, her business revolves around helping couples in love, engaged couples, couples who are about to be married ... "I focus more on the flowers," she says. "I'm usually worried about other people ... especially weddings; I do a lot of weddings. It's a lot easier for me to do, is make things look pretty with flowers."
But now, it may be time for Hillary to stop focusing all her energy on others, and start spending a little time on herself.
'What Not to Wear': The New Career Revitalizer?
by Chris Harnick, posted Nov 26th 2010 2:00PM
Make no mistake: 'What Not to Wear' is quality TV. Yes, we're referring to the show about two sassy stylists, Stacy London and Clinton Kelly, helping fashion disasters. The series is known for taking the trashy, the lazy or the out-of-touch dresser and remaking them with modern haircuts, make-up techniques and flattering clothes.
But it's also now responsible for reinvigorating acting careers as well. Proof? Look no further than '80s and '90s stars Mindy Cohn and Mayim Bialik.
Hey, more than one counts as a trend!
'Facts of Life' Star Mindy Cohn Learns 'What Not to Wear' (VIDEO)
by Aimee Deeken, posted Nov 1st 2010 7:05AM
Style-crime cops Stacy London and Clinton Kelly launched the eighth season of 'What Not to Wear' (Fri., 9PM ET on TLC) with some facts of fashion for Mindy Cohn, otherwise known as "Natalie" on 'The Facts of Life.'With their assistance, Cohn shed her frumpy layers for a more sleek and flattering look that prepares her for everything from running errands to posing for the paparazzi. Of a purple dress, London exclaimed, "Oh my God, shut up! No, I mean it, really, shut up really!"
Cohn was pleased to be able to "marry those two parts of my life: Public and private Mindy ... [don't] have to be so contrary."

Mayim Bialik talks about her faith and her return to acting
by Kona Gallagher, posted Jul 14th 2009 1:00PM

I suppose if you want to be cynical, you could say that Mayim Bialik is in the midst of a comeback, with several recent television roles, including guest stints on Bones, Secret Life of the American Teenager, and now, Saving Grace. However, it's not as though the erstwhile star of Blossom has spent the last fifteen years sitting around waiting for the phone to ring. After the series' end, she attended UCLA, got married, had two children, and even earned her PhD last year.
Ms. (er, Dr.) Bialik has indeed been busy, but she is now looking to make her way back into Hollywood. She's guest-starring on Saving Grace tonight as Esther, a Hasidic Jewish mother of seven, whose own mother is found murdered in a field full of dead cows. I spoke with Mayim about Saving Grace, the lasting legacy of Blossom, and how she hopes people see her today.
