'The View' Debates Herman Cain's Latest Scandal (VIDEO)

by Alex Moaba, posted Nov 29th 2011 2:10PM
Herman Cain is currently in the process of "reassessing his candidacy" after a Georgia woman came forward Monday alleging that she and the Republican presidential candidate were involved in a 13-year extramarital affair. This new revelation comes on the heels of allegations of sexual harassment from four separate women, all of which he denied fervently.

The ladies of 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) tackled the scandal in their 'Hot Topics' segment, and as usual, opinions different around the table. Whoopi Goldberg observed that this latest accusation isn't against the law, and wondered if it was the public's business at all. Sherri Shepherd said it would be hard to trust a man running for president who's been this deceptive in his private life.

Contrary to some reports, Harris did not leave Hefner on the altar, she said. The pair had spoken five days before the wedding was to have taken place, and ended the relationship by mutual agreement. La Toya JAckson talks about her Michael Jackson conspiracy theory on 'The View'Dr. Conrad Murray is currently awaiting trial on involuntary manslaughter charges stemming from Michael Jackson's fatal propofol overdose. According to Jackson's sister La Toya Thursday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC), that's just the tip of the conspiracy theory iceberg. La Toya believes there was a conspiracy to kill Michael and take his publishing royalties, and added that she knew more, but didn't want to reveal it just yet.

La Toya recounted conversations she had with Michael during which he told her people were out to murder him. "He told me over and over and over," said La Toya. "When he first told me, 'La Toya, they're going to kill me,' I said, 'Who Michael?' You're Michael Jackson. No one in their right mind would ever think of doing something like this to you. That's what you think. He says, 'No, but you don't understand.' And then I saw how serious he was."

Justin Bieber Beats Elisabeth Hasselbeck in Segway Race on 'The View' (VIDEO)

Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Justin Bieber in a Segway race on 'The View'Whoopi Goldberg declared Justin Bieber to be "one of the most unique and wonderful young men I think I've met ever," Thursday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC). The panel certainly put him through a unique gamut. First, he sang his hit song 'Never Say Never,' sitting behind the desk. Then he got a leading question from Sherri Shepherd.

"You have a glow, Justin, is there a reason why?" asked Shepherd as they flashed a photo of Bieber with his girlfriend, Selena Gomez. When he started to stammer, Goldberg came to the rescue. "Say no," she said. He took her advice with a fist bump and a thank you.

Bieber and Elisabeth Hasselbeck then took to a pair of Segways for a race that took them from the desk, outside of the studio, past fans waiting to catch a glimpse of Bieber, and then back to the desk. Bieber won handily, entering the studio standing backwards on his machine. Hasselbeck had no hard feelings, and the two high-fived as she finished.

Ronnie Dunn Goes Solo on 'The View' (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Jun 7th 2011 2:35PM
Ronnie Dunn on 'The View'For 20 years, Ronnie Dunn was part of the hit-making country music duo Brooks & Dunn with Kix Brooks. He had been a solo act before then, but after two decades with Brooks, he said Tuesday on 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC) that going it alone and promoting his new self-titled solo album seems a little strange.

"You know, I'm about to find out," said Dunn when Whoopi Goldberg asked him if it would be odd. "I've kept myself busy working on this record and stuff and shooting videos, and now reality is setting in, I'm going to have to come out and sit on the stage by myself and perform."

What broke the group up after so long together? Dunn said the pair were on a tour bus at one point and said, "this bus is too small," that they'd done everything they could together. Dunn also performed the ballad 'Cost of Livin'' from the new album.

"it really is about world domination by 'Sister Act,'" she said, citing openings in London, Vienna, Italy, Korea and possibly Japan.

"We're just gonna bring 'Sister Act' because, come on, singing nuns and a girl on the run. There's nothing more fun than that," she said.

Jimmy Fallon then countered with a new idea for a musical. "'The View: The Musical,'" he said. "Right? All these personalities?"

After a moment of confusion as she processed the obvious ridiculousness of the suggestion, Goldberg went with it. What followed was a fun ad-libbed musical number between the two of them spoofing when Joy Behar and Goldberg walked off the set of 'The View' over comments Bill O'Reilly made.

'The View' Hosts Take the Citizenship Test (VIDEO)

by Nick Zaino, posted Apr 15th 2011 4:40PM
Hosts of 'The View' take a citizenship testGood news for the hosts of 'The View' (weekdays, syndicated on ABC). They are all allowed to stay in the U.S. That's the verdict after Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sherri Shepherd and Elisabeth Hasselbeck collectively took a citizenship test today in honor of a crew member who had just been granted her American citizenship. 'View' producer Bill Geddie administered the test on camera, asking basic questions about the Constitution.

Hasselbeck was the secret weapon, able to name the number of voting members in the House of Representative (435) and the current Chief Justice of the Supreme Court (John Roberts). When asked to name a U.S. territory, Goldberg jokingly yelled out "Hawaii!" They did well enough to pass. "Not bad," said Bill Geddies, clearly happy to be through with the segment. "You can all stay. I guess."

Their status may be contingent on how Donald Trump feels about them and if he can divert his team from studying President Obama's birth records in Hawaii long enough to look into 'The View.'
