William Mapother has a knack for finding strange roles in complicated stories. On 'Lost,' he played Dr. Ethan Rom, one of the Others. His latest role in the indie science fiction film 'Another Earth' may be even stranger than that. Mapother talked about the new film Monday on 'Access Hollywood Live' (weekdays, syndicated on NBC).

In 'Another Earth,' Mapother plays a composer whose family is killed in a car accident. When the woman responsible for the accident gets out of prison years later, he develops a relationship with her. And, oh yeah, a mirror version of planet Earth has appeared on the skyline, complete with its own population.

So how did Mapother wind up signing on for the project? "The script arrived and they said, you know, we've got a first-time director, an actress who's really very new, and there's almost no money," he said. "Would you be interested?" 'Another Earth' was a hit at Sundance, so it looks like his intuition worked out.

Of all the people we've come to know over the past few years on 'Lost,' Ethan Rom is certainly one of the creepiest. He kidnapped Claire and Charlie! He helped Ben kidnap baby Alex! He shot John Locke!

Since his return this season -- as Dr. Ethan Goodspeed, who treated Claire and her pregnant belly at the hospital in "What Kate Does" -- star William Mapother sat down with us and got a little nostalgic about the day he got hired for the show. He even shared a fun fact ... about Ethan's footwear?

(S04E21/S04E22) "I don't want to run anymore." - Michael

I'm happy that Prison Break is over. I've been a fan since the beginning, and even though it tested your threshold for absurd and ridiculous TV moments on more than one occasion, Prison Break was still one helluva ride. While part of me wishes that it had gone out on a creative high after maybe a season or two, I still appreciate what Paul Scheuring, Matt Olmstead, and Co. tried to do in season three and on some level, I even respect what went down here in the final season - arguably the drama's worst. That being said, tonight's two-hour finale offered some solid closure while wrapping up most everyone's story in ways that actually felt believable.

(S05E01) "You're gonna have to die, John." - Richard Alpert

Time travel! The future is now! later! here! gone! beginning! ending! OK, I give up. Lost is back and the future is... well, we don't know what the future is. Or the past. Or the present. All we know is what they were, because now they're just one big time travelin' mess.

As with seasons past of Lost, the fifth chapter of TV's favorite mindf*ck opens by presenting an entirely new storytelling technique - one that demands equal parts patience, attention, and imagination. More than anything, it's a test for true fans because the casual Lost viewer (do they exist?) probably had a hard time moving from A to Z (worst metaphor ever - I know) in tonight's season premiere. That being said, this whole hour gave me my own bloody nose.

(S03E14) Well, "The Man From Tallahassee" was a tough act to follow, and it is probably unfair to compare the two episodes. This episode had its moments--shirtless Sawyer, double-crosses, and guest star Billy Dee Williams. Nikki and Paulo's story needed to be told, and I think that the writers accomplished what they set out to do. I might have to watch "Exposé" again before I can make a complete assessment.
