Disney grooming Wizards of Waverly Place to be their "next big thing"
Disney is doing everything they can to make sure that their target demo of 9-14 year olds can't breathe without choking on the Russos of Wizards of Waverly Place. Other than that, And with Miley Cyrus talking publicly about life after Hannah Montana, whenever that might be, it's time to look to Wizards of Waverly Place's Selena Gomez. As such, Disney has renewed Wizards for a third season and even greenlit a telefilm for the property. What they really need to do is stream it on Hulu to ensure it is. The kids are online, you know.

Who are the top 20 TV witches of all-time? - VIDEO
It's Halloween, so you know that like most holidays we're seeing more and more TV-related lists. AOL TV has picked the top 20 witches of all-time.I have to admit that when I first saw this piece I couldn't even name 20 witches that we've had on television. Sure, I immediately thought of Samantha and Endora on Bewitched, Willow on Buffy, The Vampire Slayer, Tabitha on Passions, and the girls from Charmed, but after that I really had to scratch my head on how they were going to come up with 20. But then I saw that they extended the rules to include witches from cartoons and TV movies, so after that it's probably pretty easy. Though I think it's an easy way out to pick all the girls from Charmed.
Witchipoo from H.R. Pufnstuf is there, as is the girl from Wizards of Waverly Place. I've never seen this movie Worst Witch they speak of, but they pick more than one witch from it so maybe it's more well known than I realize. I love the fact they picked Amanda from Tucker's Witch.
Of course, the list isn't perfect. Nancy Grace isn't on it.

Nielsen cable ratings for the week ending June 22
Here are the cable ratings, by number of viewers.
Well, this is shocking (sarcasm): Camp Rock is number one this week! Disney can pretty much guarantee the top (or near the top) slot if they put the Jonas Brothers or Hannah Montana in a new movie. They could just keep doing this forever. Have the brothers go up against Hannah in a dance off, using the music of High School Musical, and have Zac Efron guest star. Oh, and throw in a guest appearance by someone from American Idol and maybe a subplot involving the gang from CSI. Instant hit!
1. Camp Rock (Disney)
2. Sprint Cup - Sonoma (TNT)
3. Monday Night RAW (USA)
4. Monday Night RAW (USA)
5. U.S. Open (ESPN)
6. Law and Order: CI (USA)
7. In Plain Sight (USA)
8. SpongeBob SquarePants (Nickelodeon)
9. Wizards of Waverly Place (Nickelodeon)
10. SpongeBob SquarePants (Nickelodeon)
Justine Bateman tries her hand at sitcom writing
Give Justine Bateman credit: She could have been typecast after playing the dippy, fashion-obsessed Mallory Keaton on Family Ties, but she's been able to build a nice career for herself over the last twenty years by playing interesting supporting roles in movies like The TV Set and series like Desperate Housewives. But she's also been -- just like 75% of the people in Hollywood -- an aspiring writer, struggling to get her scripts produced (and you think having connections helps ... she knows Michael J. Fox and her brother is Jason Bateman, and she still couldn't get her scripts produced). But now she can add "sitcom writer" to her credits; she just wrote an episode of The Disney Channel's hit Wizards of Waverly Place, according to the New York Daily News. Apparently, she's a friend of executive producer Peter Murrieta, and she got to know some of the show's writers during the writers' strike. So, when the strike ended, she was invited to write an episode for the show.
